Bayero university, Kano (BUK) is situated in Kano, the capital of Kano state. The university was officially unveiled in 1977 after several years of running as other types of tertiary institutions. That was when it became the first university in Kano state.

Faculty Of Pharmacy

In 2016/2017, the school admitted it's pioneer set. Their first matriculation took place on 24th March, 2016. They are yet to graduate any set. They also have a postgraduate programme.

Admission Requirements

Admission into pharmacy in BUK is through joint admission and matriculation board (JAMB) unified tertiary matriculation examination (UTME) or Direct Entry (DE).

UTME

They require candidates seeking admission to acquire in senior school certificate examination (SSCE) five credit pass in English, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology in not more than two sitting. In addition to that, they should score above 180 in UTME from English, physics, chemistry and biology.
The school considers those who choose BUK their first choice of institution. The final score is an aggregate of utme and post UTME score.
Applicants should buy through remita post UTME form at the rate of 2500 naira. Print out their date of examination and bring it along to the examination centre.

Direct Entry

They accept the interim joint matriculation board (IJMB) result. Three A level passes in chemistry, biology/zoology and physics or mathematics with UTME requirements is accepted in GCE A level. IJMB score above 8 is recommended.

Undergraduate Pharmacy

Admitted students are expected to accept the admission in jamb cap. Both jamb and the school unofficial admission letter should be printed out for screening purposes. Acceptance fee is 10000 naira.

School Fees

Fresh year one student pays 37500 naira why year two DE pays 38500. Returning students pay 34500 naira. As for non-Nigerians, they pay 300000 naira. Late registration attracts 5000 naira extra. Pharmacy students pay 3000 naira for induction and laboratory manuals.

Hostel

Male hostel in the old campus include Muhd Rumfa, Atta Ibrahim, Bello Kagara, Shehu Abdullahi. The new campus house El Kanemi, Sa'Adu Zungur, Idris garbe and Aminu Dantata and Aliko dangote hall.
Female hostel in the old campus is Nana hall. The new campus is where we have Ramat hall.
The hostel fee for rooms with a mattress is 20090 naira why those without mattress is 12090 naira.

Postgraduate Pharmacy

They offered M.phil/M.sc/PhD in pharmacology. Application is usually after advertisement for application. Applicants are done through remita. The form cost.   After application, candidates are expected to submit their transcript and complete a computer application course. Their pass mark is 50% and requires 70% attendance. Those who could not pass more than one third of their course will be made to withdraw. And those who have failed some courses but pass more than one third will carry over those courses.

Postgraduate School Fees

The school fees are 132500 naira for fresh master students and 128500 for returning students. However, non-Nigerians pay 309000 as school fees. Those running PhD as fresh students pay 196500 as school fees and 192500 as returning students. Their foreign colleagues pay 415000 naira as school fees.

Hostel

There is accomodations for postgraduate students. International students pay 80000 naira why 25150 naira is what other postgraduate students pay.
