NYSC Programme Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) And Answers

A couple of questions from prospective corp members (PCM) and corp members (CM) alike. This post will answer some of the basic questions about the national youth service corps (NYSC) programme.
After registration and mobilization, this is what you will see on your dashboard.

Corp Members Dashboard

After you have successfully login to your NYSC account, the first screen that appears is your Dashboard. It displays your basic details, pictures and other links.

Login Details Reset

The facility to reset your login details is online. In a situation it does not work, you can call NYSC helplines, chat with an agent on the NYSC chat platform or proceed to any State Secretariat closest to you and present your complain. You can change your password whenever you like. 

Biometric Failure In Camp

Write and submit an application letter in the orientation camp before leaving, NYSC will drop it against next Batch/Stream for recapture.

Wrong Date Of Graduation

For the wrong date of graduation on your call-up letter, contact your institution to write NYSC

Wrong Course Of Study

Logon to your Dashboard
* Click on the link "Course Correction"
* Select course of study and
* Click on the Send Request.

Note: Your School students affairs officer (SAO) sees your request on his/her handle and upload on the portal for NYSC to process accordingly.

Correction Of Class Of Degree/Qualifications

Logon to your Dashboard
* Click on the link "Correction of Course of Study"
* Select Class of Degree/Qualification
* Click on Send request
Note: This approval is strictly by your Institution Students Affairs Officers (SAOs)

Name Correction

There are three (3) types of name  corrections you can effect via your Dashboard.
a) Spelling mistakes
b) Re-arrangement of names
c) Addition/Removal of name(s)
To effect correction:
i) Logon to your Dashboard
ii) Click on the link "Application
for change of name"
iii) Select the appropriate option
iv) Input your request and submit
Note: Option for name(s) Addition/Removal has been automated to be handled by your Institution.
Note that Correction of names is a continuous process up until three (3) months to the end of the service year.
Any request therefore can only be effected by  returning the original NYSC Certificate carrying the incorrectly spelt name with a written application. Ensure you apply for name corrections or name addition through your dashboard on time to avoid errors on your NYSC Certificate of National Service.

Wrong Matriculation Number

Contact your Institution to write NYSC officially. The application must contain corps member's name, call-up number, the wrong matriculation number and the correct matriculation number.

Wrongly  Deployed For National Service

This is usually associated with wrong Date of Birth or Date of Graduation. If this is observed in the course of camp registration, you cannot be registered. You are to make written application to
the Director-General through the State Coordinator attaching all relevant documents for possible review of your case, e.g evidence of birth, copy of WAEC result and WAEC verification pin.

Foreign Trained Not Verified In Camp

Foreign trained Prospective corps members (PCMs) must present the original of all their documents during camp verification. A foreign trained PCM not verified in camp is not deemed registered and cannot be relocated or posted to place of primary assignment.
Note that 14 days after orientation, all cases not verified will be moved to revalidation in the next batch.

Correction Of Wrong Course By Foreign Trained Graduates

Apply from your Dashboard using your username and password.

Camp Relocation

All relocation applications during the orientation course are collated and treated within the three (3) weeks of camp period.
Note that foreign trained Corps member with pending camp verification can neither be relocated nor posted for primary assignment.

Relocation Of Married Female Corps Members

Any female corps member that applied for relocation on marital ground will have her surname changed to her husband's surname by the system.

Release Of Camp Relocation

Successful applications for relocation during camp are released on the portal immediately after the closing ceremony. You will receive an SMS in this regard.
Note: You must report and register in your new State on or before 21 days from the date of the release of the relocation, otherwise the relocation is automatically cancelled by the system.

Relocation After Orientation Course

Corps members can apply online for relocation after orientation exercise but approval can only be given after he/she has spent three (3) months in the present State of deployment.

Printing Of Relocation

A corps member relocated one month after orientation course must be cleared by the State Coordinator of the NYSC portal before he/she can print relocation letter. This final clearance by the State Coordinator must be after the corps member has been cleared by his/her Employer and the LGI.

Cancellation Of Relocation

Logon to your Dashboard
* Click on "Manage Relocation"
* Click on "Cancel Relocation" to apply for cancellation of relocation.

Rejection In The Place Of Primary Assignment (PPA)

When a corps member is rejected by an Employer, he/she will be issued with a rejection letter. Go to your Local Government Inspector (LGI) who is
empowered on the NYSC portal to repost you within the same LGA only.

Period Of Monthly Biometric Clearance In LGAs

The approved period for this exercise is from 1" to  10th of every month excluding weekends and holidays. Days like new batch orientation camp programme Cal also affect it. Your LGI will also inform CM about change if schedule.

Requirement For Monthly Biometric Clearance

Corps member must present duly signed clearance letter from his/her employer and must be present for biometric identification. The identification must be successful to mark you present. No clearance by proxy.

Leave (Sick, Maternity, etc.) During The Service Year

Submit a written application to your Local Government Inspector (LGI),  who processes it online through the Zonal Inspector. Once the State Coordinator approves the application online, the system marks the biometric attendance automatically throughout the approved leave period.

Note: Once you exceed the period of leave, contact your LGl Immediately for necessary action.

Remobilization

If a corps member is absent from his/her duty post for consecutive three (3) months, he/she is said to have absconded from service. The system will automatically pull the person into ascoundment. Whenever he/she reappears after all administrative clearance, will logon to the NYSC portal and click on the "Remobilization" link once it is available (portal.nysc.org.ng).

Revalidation

This is for a mobilized prospective corps member who did not report to orientation camp. Whenever he/she is ready to serve, should click on "Revalidation" link on the NYSC portal to revalidate his/her registration.
There are cases of registration and not deployed for service before the orientation camp programme commences. In such a case, the affected person will have to revalidate during the next batch/stream. This normally happen to persons who register late.

    1. For now there is no specifics. I believe it can be done several times until the person is truly ready. Buy why revalidate more than once?

    1. If you use phone browser, wait for the word 'pdf' to show. It can take time sometimes. If not, use the nysc official app. If it still did not show, proceef with a laptop.

  5. What is shown on the revalidation page .because some times pcm log into the revalidation tab more than once because they feel it's not working .hope logging into the revalidation tab more than once wont make it invalid ?

  6. Please can I get the correct format for application of maternity leave and what if my leave period ends a month after my supposed pop date would I still be required to come back for 21days?

      For your second question, yes but you can speak with your local inspector and or your PPA for best decision. Someone I knew had to stay until a month just to make sure her expected day of delivery falls into the three months leave and end of service

    Please I applied for sick leave which was granted, but it was around the monthly biometric clearance which I called my LGI and asked about how I will go about it, she sent me to report to the current state secretariat where am receiving treatment, which I did. my question now is after everything will my dashboard be showing present just like every other month I did my biometric by myself.? Because it's still showing absent, hope it won't affect my service year.
