Another form of iron is ferric ammonium citrate. Although ferric ammonium citrate has been reported to be as well absorbed as ferrous sulfate in rats (Hurrell, 1985), several studies in human volunteers have reported it to be less well absorbed than ferrous sulfate when administered as pharmacological preparations. A brand containing ferric ammonium chloride is feroglobin and ferobin blood tonic.
