Can Nospamin And Gripe Water Be Used Together
Nospamin drop and gripe water are two preparations mother's give their children for infant colic. Nospamin paediatric drops contain homatropine methyl bromide as an active ingredient. On the other hand, gripe water is a mixture of water, baking soda, and herbs that many parents use as a remedy for colic and stomach upsets in babies. Most commercially available gripe water contains a mix of the following herbs: fennel, ginger, chamomile and lemon balm.

Infant colic is a condition that causes an otherwise healthy and well-fed infant to cry intensely for 3 or more hours per day for 3 or more days per week. Babies with colic will cry inconsolably and may clench their fists and curl their legs during the crying episodes. Colic starts when a baby is around 2-3 weeks old and may last until a baby is around 4 months old. Doctors do not know the exact cause of colic.

Combining nospamin drop and gripe water is one very thing most mothers do. However, this idea may not be right. Both drugs are meant for the same purpose. So there is no need to combine both together. And to drive home the point, both contain some level of alcohol. So when giving the two drugs to the same baby at the same timez you are increasing the quantity of alcohol given to the child. And alcohol in children is bad. Alcohol may not be the only ingredient that is in both drugs. So you see the point why combining nospamin drop and gripe water is a bad idea.
