To register for this National youth service corps (NYSC), you will need to visit your institution with some documents. These documents include letter of appointment from your internship center, joint admission and matriculation board (JAMB) admission letter, university statement of result and one passport size photograph. These documents will be submitted with a form you are to fill. The form will be given to you by your faculty. The data's must be as accurate as possible for a hitch free registration. The following data's must be cross check before submitting it; matriculation number, classification of degree, DATE OF GRADUATION, marital status, gender, JAMB examination number and DATE OF BIRTH.
Your date of graduation is the date Senate considered and approved your results. The date may not be easily known to all students. To save yourself a lot of stress, use the date of graduation on your statement of result. As for candidate who did not do their statement of result immediately after graduation, they should go to the school and find out the date on senate list.
This whole process is very simple. For candidates who live far away during their internship, they can send those documents to somebody within the school environment and it can be process.
After that, visit JAMB portal to find out if your name is on matriculation list. There is five possible situation;
1. Congratulation
2. Print your admission letter
3. Print your result slip
4. Print your admission letter and result slip
5. No offer admission
The congratulation means that you will be able to register with NYSC when your school upload your details with them. Failure to print result slip and or admission letter is believe to affect mobilization. However, I have seen someone who was able to register and was mobilize even when the system demanded for printing of result slip. But for those who still wish to print result slip and or admission letter, you will have to create a profile with JAMB if you have not done so already. Click on the service you want, pay with the payment method you prefer and submit. You don't really need to print it out because you will not need to submit it to anyone. However, when a candidates name and details is not with NYSC, it will mean one of two things; candidates got admission through pre-degree or remedial studies and two, the person's academic details was never sent to JAMB by the school.
The solution to the above problem is simple. You need to do JAMB regularization or register your admission details with them. Create a profile with JAMB if you have not done so already. Click on late registration. It will bring out a window for you to make payment. Choose the payment gateway of your choice. After making payment, you will be ask to provide your JAMB examination number and year of examination. This will further open an online form which must be filled and submitted to JAMB. To complete your registration, a downloadable indemnity form is open for you. Download it, fill in the parts that require your details and submit it to your school. Your school will complete the form before forwarding it to JAMB local office. Your status will be mailed to your email and reflect in your JAMB profile. This process takes months. Successful regularise candidate should do well to print JAMB admission letter and result slip immediately.
Verification Of Senate List
To be among those who will be going for service, your name must be uploaded into NYSC portal. This is called verification of senate list. All you need to do is type your surname, matriculation number, day and month of birth and fetch details. If you name is there, it will show with the information your details have been uploaded. You can proceed to register with NYSC.Senate List
There is another list called senate list. You will not see your name here at this stage. The name of candidates that appear here are those who have registered for service and it is a list. To view this list, enter your batch, stream and school. It will bring out the names of all those who have been mobilize for that set from your school.Registration For NYSC

The registration link takes you to a page whereby you will be required to fill in your details. The information they require range from academic information to health status and so on. Use a cyber cafe with biometric capturing device. Use your own email and phone number. Be careful with the information you provide. You can correct majority of them either in camp if you are mobilized or before your exemption letter is printed out if you are exempted or even after receiving exemption letter. Click on register.
Exemption Letter
For those who fall into the category of exemption, this is the end of the road. On your dashboard will be the information in red 'your exemption letter is being processed. Go to your institution for the certificate.' On the dashboard, a pop up window will display your profile information including your date of birth, date of graduation and name and also informing you that you have three months from the day of registration to effect any corrections on the date of birth and name. The information did not say anything about year of graduation. You can also correct course in your dashboard. However, every correction is subject to verification before it will be effected.Mobilization
Candidates that fall into mobilization will have to choose four states of their choice. Your state of origin and state you school will automatically be omitted. States that are already filled up within some days after registration behind will be removed. You are free to make the choices between four of six geopolitical zones in Nigeria. The system will automatically pick four zones for you. Click on the link and select your state of choice. Proceed to submit. At this stage, your call-up number will be displayed on your dashboard. Proceed to get your green card which must be in coloured from your institution. This will be delivered to your institution after the deadline of registration. But if you wish to receive the card via email, you will have to pay for it. In that case, click on payment on NYSC dashboard. Click on the payment gateway you wish to use. Make payment and wait for response. Immediately it is approved, you will be notified on your dashboard of your payment status. This will take some days. Print it at any cyber cafe in coloured. There is a place to be signed by you. Keep it safe as you will take it to camp.Correction Of Details
For those who are mobilize, they can go to camp and make some of the necessary correction. However, you can do some on the NYSC dashboard. Change Of Name
Click on change of name. It will bring out some options. They are correct spelling, name removal, name replacement, name addition, and name rearrangement. Type in the correct name in the correct format and proceed. It takes some time for the verification process before it can be effected.Change Of Date Of Birth
Some people have wrong date of birth on NYSC portal. It may just be the day that was wrong or a month difference. Some decides to leave it like that as it seems not to affect their mobilization. My advise is for them to correct it. This is because NYSC certificate now include candidates date of birth. This can affect your application to some companies when they see different date of birth even if it is to you insignificant. This can be change in camp. However, this is not easy to those whose date of birth affect their mobilization. It can be a year or more and that can change the candidates status to exemption letter. To correct this, follow this process;i. Get 19 or 20 digits WAEC verification pin from any First Bank branch for about 700 naira only
ii. Login to your dashboard and click on the link to Date of Birth;
iii. Enter WAEC Verification PIN, select WAEC Type, Year of exam and enter your Examination Number; and
iv. Click on Verify button
v. Click SUBMIT or CANCEL
Note that the difference between your Date of Graduation and Date of WAEC must be greater than or equals to Four (4) Years. Also, you must have made payment before the link to correction of date of birth will work. The date of birth cannot be changed after deployment.
Change Of Date Of Graduation
Wrong date of graduation uploaded by your institution can also affect mobilization. It can prevent some from getting mobilize.The following procedures are to be followed for correction of date of graduation after your EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE has been printed by NYSC
i. Go to your Institution to collect the Original NYSC Exemption Certificate and complain to Student Affairs Officer
ii. Your Student Affairs Officer will then write a letter duly signed and forward to NYSC Headquarters stating your correct Date of Graduation for processing.
iii. Your Student Affairs Officer will return to NYSC your Original Exemption Certificate
iv. NYSC will enable you to revalidates when the online registration portal opens.
This process can take up to a year. So please don't waste the time thinking it will happen soon. It takes months for NYSC exemption letter to be ready. And another set of months for all these process.
Change Of Course
Course correction is easy to change on the dashboard. Just click on the link. It will take you to the option to choose school, the course, the degree and the grade. Click on apply. It will take some time for it to be verified with the institution.Green Card
After completing online registration, you will be redirected to your dashboard. It will display some of your data's. Out will take about 1-3 days for your call-up number to show. Proceed to download your green card. The green card must be printed in coloured and require two copies as you will submit one. Do not laminate it. It is require to sign it and submit it at the camp.
Call-up Letter
The call-up letter will be out some days after the close of registration for that batch and stream. It contains your call-up number and the state you are posted to. It is needed at the camp too.
