Banana Good For Ulcer

Both raw and ripe bananas are found to be very beneficial in curing stomach ulcers. There are certain antibacterial compounds in bananas that inhibit the growth of ulcer-causing H. pylori. Bananas contain water-soluble polysaccharides, the same compounds found in some anti-ulcer prescription drugs (Carafate).

Bananas are also rich in fiber. A small average size banana could hold up to 3 g of fiber. Fiber can lower the amount of acid in your stomach and prevents bloating and ulcer pain. Bananas are best to clear out the acidity of gastric juices that lowers the inflammation and strengthens the stomach lining.

It's rich in vitamin C, which can help protect you from ulcers in a number of ways. For one, vitamin C plays an important role in wound healing. However, large amount of vitamin C is contraindicated in ulcer.
