Ingredient

Syrup

Each 5ml contains cyproheptadine HCL anhydrous 2mg as cyproheptadine HCL BP in flavoured syrup base.

Caplet

Each caplet contains cyproheptadine HCl 4mg

Cyproheptadine is an 5-HT antagonist and has mild anticholinergic and sedative properties. The antihistaminic property is responsible for the anti allergic action while the effect of the 5-HT is responsible for the CNS action including relief from migraine. 

Side Effects

Most common side effect is drowsiness. Other side effects are nausea, vomiting, dry mouth and dizziness. However these are not likely to occur at the recommended doses.

Precautions

Not suitable for diabetes patients and avoid driving or operating machinery.

Dosage And Administration

Syrup For Children:

1-5 years ½ teaspoonful (2.5ml) twice daily

6-12 years: 1 teaspoonful (5ml) twice daily

Above 12 years: 2 teaspoonful (10ml) twice daily

Tablet For Adult:

A tablet (4mg) three times daily
