There is a huge difference between mycoten vaginal cream and dermal cream. Mycoten contain clotrimazole. It comes in either a dermal cream, vagina cream and vagina tablet. In so many cases, some people use vagina cream for body and use the body cream for vagina. So this post her is out to show you that both the body cream and vagina cream are completely different except for their active pharmaceutical ingredient.

clotrimazole is an antifungal agent. Even when both contain the same active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) with same strength, their base may not be the same. And the base of cream has important pharmacological properties that affect drug absorption. Mycoten vaginal cream contains a base that melts at body temperature or in the presence of water, dermal cream including mycoten dermal cream base may not exhibit the same characteristics. For a body cream a “lighter” oil is used that absorbs quickly, a higher percentage of water, a lower percentage of emulsifier for a light thin cream that will spread easily and absorb into skin quickly. Lotion base consists of an emulsifier, oil or butter, and water.

For example, some topical steroids will be classified one or two strengths higher when moving from cream to ointment. As a rule of thumb, an ointment base is more occlusive and will drive the medication into the skin more rapidly than a solution or cream base.

The manufacturer of each topical product has total control over the content of the base of a medication. Although containing the same active ingredients, one manufacturer's cream might be more acidic than the next, which could cause skin irritation or change its absorption rate. For example, a vaginal formulation of miconazole antifungal cream might irritate the skin less than an athlete foot formulation of miconazole cream. These variations can, on occasion, result in different clinical outcomes, even though the active ingredient is the same.

There are also other ingredients that make up creams. They are carefully selected to exhibit a particular characteristic depending on where it is going to be used. Even though both mycoten cream (vaginal and dermal) contain the same clotrimazole and the same strength, they cannot be used interchangeably. It is not even advisable to apply mycoten dermal cream on the surface of the vaginal. Only on the skin.

We can also look at from the other angle. Can we them use mycoten vaginal cream on the body? The answer still remains no. Since the mycoten vaginal cream is made of base that melt at body temperature or presence of moisture, it may not spread all over the skin when it is applied to the skin. This is because the temperature of the skin may not be high due to environmental factors.
