Causes Of White, Brown Or Grey Coloured Armpit And Pubic Hair

The normal colour of armpit hair by most African is black. When some open their armpit, the normal colour is lost. The colour can change to yellow, brown or gray. Along with the colour change is the  presence of concretions in the shaft.
This condition affect every race and colour. There is no gender that is isolated and it affect any age with pubic or armpit hair; that is from puberty. It is more common in males than in females because they shave their armpit and public hair more often than males.

Causes Of Coloured Pubic And Armpit Hair

The colour change depends on two main factors; bacteria or chemical.

The name of this condition is trichomycosis axillaris. The name is derived from the microorganism causing it. The word mycosis is use when the infection is caused by a fungus. However, the main cause is a bacteria called trichobacteriosis axillaris. The most common casuative species is trichobacteriosis tenuis. This bacteria is a normal flora in the body. This affect mostly people with poor hygiene which leads to overgrowth of the bacteria.

This condition is not life threatening. It affects public and underarm hair. It causes irritation and discomfort. The hair normally falls off after some time. The major cause of it is sweating underarms, obesity and humidity.
After diagnosis, treatment is to shave off the hair and introduce personal hygiene. In most cases, shaving alone can take care of it. However, another set of hair can pick up some of the bacteria when personal hygiene is not practice. Hygiene include regular washing the affected part with soap and clean warm water and use of antiperspirants. Others are use of talc free drying powder qnd wearing clean dry clothes.
If after shaving, the problem persists, antibiotic lotion and creams can help within two weeks.

Chemical

The other cause is not fully documented as one of the main causes of this condition. This is because many persons have not had to suspect that. This information is from experience by myself and someone on the internet. The chemical cause of colour armpit hair is deodorant and some body creams. I hardly apply cream to myself due to the hot weather condition. However, the day I applied it to my armpit hair, it changed colour immediately. No amount of washing removed it. After shaving it, I applied it again this time delibrately. It happened again. Ever since then, I mark it as one of the culprit.

The cream and deodorant contains different chemical constituents. We all react to chemicals differently. The chemical we react to may be different from the one another person will react to. There is no specific ingredient yet to be implicated for this because no study have yet to be done on it. It is believed that bleach the hair follicle. Since it is the rich that are fond of changing body creams and deodorant all the time, it will make sense to conclude this is the main reason they experience this. So to avoid coloured armpit and public hair, avoid applying it to them or shave regularly.
