How to Register Premises In The Coordinated Wholesale Centre With PCN

There is a strong push to phase out the present chaotic drug distribution system in Nigeria. The template for the coordinated wholesale centre has been drafted and approved by the federal government of Nigeria. Unfortunately, the deadline for the complete switch to this new model has failed several times. It is believed that we will soon get it right.

Meanwhile, the registration of coordinated wholesale outlets have been formulated. It is encouraged that all those who wish to own one should register as soon as possible.

Requirements For Registration Of Premises In Coordinated Wholesale Centres

Same as registration requirement for retail, distribution and importation outfit (read them here) and shall also include:

a. Personnel

i. There shall be personnel for Quality Assurance

ii. There shall be personnel for Inventory Management

b. Storage Facility

i. Each storage area should have a minimum area of 70 sqm inclusive of other office apartments

ii. Minimum Height shall be 3.05 meters

iii. There shall be a Loading bay/Delivery bay in the centre.

iv. There shall be at least one quarantine area in  the centre

c. Good Storage Practice

i. Products shall be properly demarcated.

ii. There shall be Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

iii. There shall be:

a. Systems to ensure adequate cooling

b. Appropriate cold rooms/refrigerators thermolabile products

c. Plastic/treated wooden pallets and metallic racks for the storage area

e. Good lightening system

f. Dust free flooring

g. IT enabled inventory management system

h. A well dedicated and secured area for controlled substances

i. A separate and dedicated area for rejects and returned products as well as retention samples

j. Adequate material handling equipment

k. Rodent and Insect trappers.
