5G Network Cannot Cause Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic

5G is the latest broadband network around the world. It is still undergoing trials in different countries except some few countries in which it has been fully deployed. It took about four decades from the first generation to the fifth generation. Each generation came with stiff resistance from the public. There is always one conspiracy theory in each generation of network that if allowed to work will hamper the earth or ucher in a new world government. Others claim these networks cause cancer. 5G is not an exception. It has been linked with many illnesses. One very interesting one says that even if the network is safe, it can become dangerous when multiple devices connect with it. An increase in radio frequency EMF exposure may result from such connection. There is no known immediate effect but can accumulate and cause long term health effects. Another possible effect is that 5G causes covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

This conspiracy linking 5G network with covid-19 pandemic was launched in January. Ever since then, more people have lent their voice to it. These include musicians, pastors and even politicians. They have different theories. Some say covid-19 started in the city of Wuhan where 5G towers were located. They said the death started immediately when the towers were erected.

Some also believe that 5G allows the virus to penetrate the skin. Others say it is causing the immune system to be weakened to the virus.

Another school of thought linking covid-19 to 5G said that it is an Antichrist. The disease is a biological weapon designed to put fear in humans. Humans will have no choice than to accept any vaccine that will cure the disease. They will introduce a vaccine and the vaccine will contain a microchip that will be linked to a 5g network. This will then be used to control all humans with the vaccine since the 5G can support the internet of things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI). Let me categorically state it here that I am not looking at it from a spiritual angle. However, the main argument is that the virus exists and it is not linked to a 5G network.

The reason why most of all these theories are flying is because 5G have not yet been tested. 4G was shown to penetrate the skin a little without causing any damage. After years of usage, there is no known side effect. We hope 5G will attain that state soon.

Covid-19 disease is caused by severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The virus is similar to SARS in terms of shape. That is why they are all called Corona because of the crown shape they have. It can infect people and can affect the lungs blocking off Oxygen supply to the body. It is transmitted from one person to the other through droplets. Incubation period is 2 to 14 days.

5G is a network that provides faster internet speed with low latency. This is better than 4G LTE. It has a lot of potential benefits in many aspects of our lives when fully deployed. For example, it can be used to remotely control robots in far away places. This can be used to carry out surgical operations by a medical doctor from the comfort of his/her house. This is because it has low latency due to its ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC). This is important for mission critical tasks which require uninterrupted and robust data. There are so many other benefits which are already known such as increased browsing speed which make use of enhanced mobile broadband (EMB).

Many countries are testing 5G. Very few countries have deployed the technology. An example is South Korea. They have over 38000 base stations installed already using 3.5 Ghz (sub 6) spectrum. But that that is in major cities and not the entire country. The area the network have covered have the fastest internet today. Some call it 7 or 8G. However, their 5G is very fast.

Why These Conspiracy Theories

Let us look at the reason why some are postulating those conspiracy theories. 5G used a higher frequency in the spectrum. 5G has three bands. The lowest is the <1 GHz frequency which is almost the same with 4G LTE. Just like 4G LTE, it has a low frequency that can penetrate buildings and pass through trees. However, the speed is just above 4G LTE.

The mid range band is above 1 GHz. It is between 2-6 GHz. This increases the speed a little more. This frequency can penetrate a building only a little. Some network providers are adding many antennas or using boosters to enable increased access in houses. This is the most common 5G network around today.

The last frequency is the one above 24 GHz up to 300 GHz. This wave is very short and is blocked by the building including the window plan. The speed is massive.

Looking at the frequency many people believe that it can have side effects.

Can 5G cause covid-19?

5G has high frequency. Many people fear that this high frequency can cause covid-19 due to its radiation. The 5G network emits non-ionising radiation. Non-ionising radiation does not cause electrons to leave their atom structure. They only excite it. Ionising radiation has enough energy that it can remove an electron from an orbit of an atom and the atom in turn becomes charge-WHO definition. Example of ionising radiation is gamma and x-rays.

Before we condemn 5G, let us look at other devices using the same frequency. Your present phone is a potential for covid-19 if we go by the current theory surrounding 5G. Do you know why? Most phones come with the WiFi standard of IEEE 802.11ad which operates in the 60 GHz (v band) spectrum to achieve data transfer rates as high as 7.8 Gbits/s. This your phone has not killed you for years after using it in transferring data between your phone and other phones. So why 5G?

Most electronic devices in the homes use frequency around 5G or even above. For example, your television and other electronic gadget remote controls use infrared. Infrared frequency is in the range of 430 Thz to 300 Ghz. And don't forget many phones use infrared for data transfer some years back. And according to Wikipedia, most thermal radiation emitted by objects near room temperature is infrared.

That is not all. 5G frequency is between microwave and infrared frequency of 30-300 GHz. And we have been using these all along without fear.

They claim the disease started in Wuhan where they were testing 5G networks. The questions such ones were asked was if Wuhan was the first city with 5G towers and why it did not start from the city 5G was first installed. Japan, Iran and other African countries have been hit with the disease when they are yet to lay the framework for 5G technology. Since Wuhan was not the first city with the network, such ones switch over to other theories.

They said the disease penetrates the skin due to 5G network. The protein shell around the virus is incapable of hijacking 5G radio signals.

What about claiming that travellers from Wuhan brought the disease? It is true many countries have the disease now because of infected persons travelling into infection free zones. However, radiation is not transmitted from person to person. But covid-19 is transmitted from person to person in cities without a 5G network.

As for 5G being an Antichrist, every religion has it believe. Let them prove what they preach using their holy book and not using theories.
