JAMB Pharmacy Admission Requirements
Pharmacy is a professional programme that deals on drug from discovery down to dispensing. It takes a five or six years programme in a Nigerian university to be awarded B.pharm or Pharm. D respectively. That degree qualifies one to practice the profession. However, to be accepted by any university in Nigeria, applicants must meet and fulfill certain academic conditions amidst others.
There are two modes of entry into pharmacy programme in Nigeria. The first is into year one and the second one is into year two. Each mode have entry requirements that must be met.
The programme is offered by different schools in Nigeria. Although they all have similar mode of entry, they vary slightly in terms of requirements. These variation is largely influenced by joint admission and matriculation examination (JAMB), school senate, owner and location.

Each year or so, schools review their requirements based on certain conditions. These new updates are entered into the school database and shared among departments. JAMB is also sent their copy which they publish in their yearly De-Brochure wh oh can be found in JAMB office. A copy in CD format is given to candidate who purchase JAMB admission form. Interested candidates can insert the disk into a compatible computer with working CD ROM to access the data. Fortunately, the information can be downloaded from JAMB official website. However, the most recent update can be found in this post. This post will be updated to meet with the new update as time goes by.
For you to qualify and be eligible to apply for pharmacy, you must meet up with the below O level requirements:
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Pharmacy Direct Entry (DE) Admission Requirements
(i) BENIN and UYO do not accept ‘A’ level Mathematics.
(ii) OAU accepts B.Sc. with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours in relevant discipline (Sciences).
(iii) BENIN accepts ‘A’ level Botany in lieu of Biology.
(iv) LAGOS accepts;
(a) Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology
(b) Very good passes in three (3) A/Level subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(c) Does not accept B.Sc Degrees.
(v) BENIN accepts B.Sc. Second Class (Hons) in related fields.
(vi) UNN accepts:
(a)Three A’ level passes to include Chemistry, Biology/Zoology/Botany and Physics plus UTME requirements in not more than two sittings.
(b) Bachelor’s degree in any of Biological Sciences, Health Science and Technology, or Medical Sciences with a minimum of second class honours lower division plus UTME requirements.
(c) HND in Biological Sciences, Health Science and Technology or Medical Sciences with a minimum of an upper credit plus UTME requirements.

(vii) NDU accepts:
a. Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree (Second Class Honours) from a recognized University in Chemistry or any of the Biological Sciences.
b. Have a pass in Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics,
Chemistry and Biology or Zoology or Botany at the Advanced Level (GCE) or Higher School Certificate at not more than two sittings.
c. General requirement for admission in the University, i.e, credit in five (5) relevant subjects including Mathematics and English Language at the Ordinary Level GCE, or WAEC/SSCE/NECO.
(viii) OOU accepts Botany in lieu of Zoology.
