The behaviors or characters customers display when they come to the community pharmacy varies. Some are common in certain locations than others and peculiar to some age group or gender. Expecting each type and understanding how to handle them is important.

If you think you have seen it all, come to the pharmacy. There is hardly any characters you will not see. This is because every set of person is likely to fall sick in his or her lifestyle. And they may come to the pharmacy either in the hospital or community pharmacy to get their drugs. This is unlike shops where they sell maybe only female things where men may not be seen. It is in the pharmacy you see different characters.

To tell you how bad it is, there is a tweet by one pharmacist. He appeal to children to always call their age parents or spend quality time with them because those that are not getting that come to the pharmacy to gist.

Angry Personality

Some are always angry at everybody. They never smile. The reason for their anger may not be due to past experience in the shop but their lifestyle. Anything you do or say gets them into their normal angry mode. They believe it is their right to scream while you take it. They can scream with the slightest issue. It is very common with married women.

Solution

Be polite. Talk with all confidence and be selective of words. Listen to their demands and offer them what they want. If they find fault with the service and want to scream, direct them to the pharmacist or the owner. If the words get out of hands, show them the door.

Patient customer

They are always orderly. They are willing to wait for those ahead of them to get their medication and counselling. This may even come when all they want is just paracetamol tablet. They believe in a first come first serve. Some of them can become angry if you bypass then to serve another customer when it is their turn. However, the majority of them will ignore if the other customers just want a small attention. They also ready to listen to counsel and ready to ask questions. They are the best to deal with. Most married men fall into this category with older men and women occupying a small spot.

The kings

They wants specially undivided attention. They want to be treated like royalty. Very few buy products of high value. They feel like they are the best customers. They don't care if others were there before them. Also, the way and manner they talk to other customers is determined by the customers appearance. They don't care about the presence of others. They want the best treat.

Talkative

From the door they have started complaining about their conditions or asking for a particular medication. Hey others are here before you. Who cares. Please answer me. I say do you have this medication. From one topic they look for another. Most of the time, the talk is not even related to medication or health. They are bad listeners. They can interrupt  your speech.

Quiet Customers

They can sometimes be classified as patient customers but they are not. They come and go straight for a chair because they know they are special. They come asking for a particular person to attend to them. The next thing is they are buying goods worth thousands of naira without blinking an eye. They try to be understanding even though deep down within them they want to be attended to immediately and leave. They pay and work out without much talk. They make sales go up without much disturbance to the staff.

Whichever category your customer falls into, it is good to know them and act accordingly. However, it still comes down to tact. Attending to the kings to the detriment of the patient ones will make them angry over time. And that can spell disaster. The quiet ones should never be ignored. They like it when you pay them attention inn the little corner they are sitting. It shows them that you care.
