Field trip report
My field trip report was very good in my eyes back in the days. Many years later, I laugh when I consider it again. Imagine the face of the supervisor as he reads through. The only consolation I gave him was the little jokes in between. It was funny and at the same time horrible. Do not ask me about the grades. Lol.

Field trips are great ways of exposing pharmacy students to real life experience of the profession. It is far different from student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES). It involves travelling to a location where activities that involves the health care of the people. In most cases, it is a pharmaceutical establishment. The main aims and objectives of a field trip are to provide practical experience that exposes the students to theoretical and conceptual discussions of their studies and improves the process of information gathering from image perception during reading to the interpretation of data.

A field trip may not be complete without a formal field trip report. To be able to write a good field trip report, it is from the day of the trip. Therefore, knowing what is required before the trip will go a long way in writing a good one.
To start with, gather enough information about the site. With this information, it will be easy to draft out possible encounter and the possible benefits of the trip. These pieces of information will streamline the students’ mind during the tour of the facilities and enable him/her base questions that will solve it.
Once back from the trip, the next step is to take a timeout and analyse the journey. Bear in mind the department requirement. For example, some department may not bother students to type. In other cases, typing is necessary. The content of both is slightly similar. The main difference is the style. For example, a typed work will contain a cover page. The font size and type should be the choice of the department unless otherwise stated.

Introduction To Field Trip Report

A good report is composed of a compelling introduction, a well-structured body, and a strong conclusion. The beginning of the report should contain the students’ data. These include the student name, matriculation number, title of the report, the name of the school, department, and faculty. If the students are formed into groups, it is helpful to indicate which group you belong.
There are two types of report. The most common one is a plain write up without subheading. However, the content flows is similar. An abstract may not be compulsory. However, when it is, it is a short statement, which gives a brief overview of the rest of the report. It should not be more than a page. The page font size and type should be same with the rest of the report. However, the line spacing should be single unless otherwise specified.
The report should follow a narrative and personal style. It normally starts with a general introduction. In style whereby there is no subheading, the introduction blends with the rest of the story.
The introduction is what you knew of the place and what others have said before you embark on the journey. It gives a detailed guide on the place you are visiting including the location, address, and what they do. The history of the place may be included. These pieces of information need reference since you have not gone. In addition, remember that referencing website rather than articles reduces the authenticity of a work. The introduction states the reason for the trip. The reason includes the aim and objectives and how you hope to solve it with the trip. The aim should be a short set target while the objectives list goals that will be achieved. For example, you can say pax herbals produce herbaceutics for a long time now in Nigeria. However, little is known of how this it is done there. Therefore, this field trip will provide me with the opportunity to gain this knowledge. However, when we got there ….

Body Of Field Trip Report

From this stage, summarise experiences in each facility or department and their functions. Include reasons some things are impressive to you and the benefits. However, the recommendation is that you should focus more on one experience as it affects you. For example, in pax herbals, there are the different unit. After writing on them, along the line, you can write more on the farm where these herbs are. This could indicate the aspect that made an impression on you.

Recommendation And Conclusion

Summarise your experience and give reasons why the site is worth visiting again by you and other students. Explain the benefits of the trip to you. Include why other students should consider visiting that same place. Cite potential set back and give possible solutions. However, never fail to praise them for what they are doing and will still do for you and others.
