As Pharmacists Around The World Celebrates The 'World Pharmacists Day'

As September 25 draws near, the over 4 million pharmacists around the world have set up one or two plans to celebrate. For those who do not know the reason for this celebration, it can be summed up in this post.
September 25 of every year is term ‘World Pharmacist Day.’ It is a day set aside by the International Pharmacists Federation (F.I.P) to celebrate the contributions of pharmacist all around the world to the health of the people.
FIP is a global federation representing over three million pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists all around the world. It was founded in the year 1912 with its headquarters at Netherlands.
The Turkey Pharmacists Association (T.A.P) at Istanbul, Turkey in the year 2009 suggested a day for the celebration of achievements of pharmacists. It was unanimously accepted the year 2010. The choice of the date was not a problem as it was chosen to coincide with the date the FIP was founded. Ever since then, the celebration has gone around the world on yearly basis.

Each year celebration is based on a new theme that influences the nature of activities for that year. All the themes so far are tailored to fit the aims and objectives of the celebration. The celebration is to highlight the positive impact of the pharmacist to the overall health of the nation to the government and the public. It also encourages interaction between pharmacists and patients to further cement pharmacist-patient relationship.
The activities each year varies from structured widespread campaigns to small-scale projects. They include giving public lectures, holding exhibitions, and organizing activities for adults and kids. On its part, the FIP official website is giving out free placards to pharmacists worldwide to use on their social media page. They are designed with different country’s specification. They encourage pharmacist to decorate their pharmacy establishment with pharmacy logo, increase some social media activities, organised quiz, and play online pharmacy games, use posters, and advertisements.

Pharmacists are your medicine expert

 The theme was chosen to highlight pharmacists’ expertise in the area of patient health, said FIP president Dr Carmen Peña: “This expertise is applied through science and research, through educating the next generation, and through transforming patient needs into services.”
The theme for last year’s world pharmacist day celebration, which I know you are eager to know, is;

‘From research to health care: Your pharmacist is at your service.’

This theme was chosen this year to showcase to the world the value pharmacist contribute to the health of the nation without notice. They are somewhat like the film producer and directors who contribute immensely to the success of a hit movie of which the star actors get the glory while the producers and directors get the money. From the very beginning of a disease to the last molecule of a drug has got the hands of a pharmacist imprint.

“This theme was chosen to reflect the numerous contributions the pharmacy profession makes to health. From research and development of medicines, to educating future pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, and providing direct care, we do all this in the service of our patients and communities,” said FIP President Dr Carmen Peña.'

There are about 4 million pharmacists around the world. The number of those who celebrate this annually is somewhat less than that. It may be because not every country is into this yet such as New Zealand. The pharmacist in that country all nonchalant as to the celebration. One source claim that America has their own pharmacist day as 25 of January every year. If one should call their own national celebration, I do not know
