This include theory and practical class. This normally takes place in year two of study in two semesters.

The laboratory experiments in anatomy for pharmacy students were merely kind of an introduction. This means that pharmacy students were never involved in core anatomy practical.

There is two type of anatomy laboratory. They include Histology and Gross anatomy laboratory. Histology anatomy laboratory is what pharmacy students will do and not gross anatomy. The gross involve the use of cadavers (corpse) which is the core anatomy.

The first thing pharmacy students will notice in a histology laboratory is the human parts including bones. It is made up of tables and chairs.

The practical is related to the theory subjects in anatomy. This includes cells and tissues. So, therefore, the practice will involve identification of cell and their various types.

Types Of Practical In Anatomy Laboratory

The practices are all similar day in day out. It involves identifying the different types of cells and tissues while studying the various functions of the cells and tissues. This can be done with the aid of a microscope. Identification of cells makes use of the cell shapes and sizes coupled with colour.

Slides for microscope will be produced by the laboratory technician. The students do observe slides using the microscope. Naming the cell type is crucial. All students will be required to learn how to operate the microscope.

A little practice is identifying cells and their shapes using Atlas. This is quite easy.

Equipment In Anatomy Laboratory

For pharmacy students, the major equipment they will encounter is the microscope.

For learning to be easy, students will need an anatomy atlas. The atlas contains different types of cells and their shapes, characteristics, etc. Atlas can be downloaded online.

The examination is usually in the form of identification of cell types while stating their functions. It could be the use of atlas or the microscope.
