Piroxicam is effective in relieving pain and reducing temperature in febrile patients. Since the drug has useful anti-inflammatory activity, it is not used preliminary as an analgesic. In patients with rheumatoid arthritis piroxicam relieves pain and reduces joint swelling but rarely affects the ESR or other measure of disease activity.

Indications Of Felvin

1. Rheumatoid Arthritis

2. Osteoarthritis

3. Ankylosing spondylitis

4. Acute gout

5. Acute musculoskeletal disorders 6. Juvenile chronic arthritis

Dosage Of Felvin Capsule

It is recommended that piroxicam therapy be initiated and maintained at a single dose of 20mg. If desired the daily dose may be divided. Because of the long half-life of piroxicam, steady state blood levels are not reached for 7-12 days. Therefore, although the therapeutic effects of piroxicam are evident early in treatment, there is a progressive increase response over several weeks and the effect of therapy should not be assessed for two weeks.

Side Effects Of Felvin

A gastrointestinal side effect is the most common problem associated with piroxicam. In general, however, piroxicam does not appear to produce more gastrointestinal problems than other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
