Strepsil is a lozenge. It is used to treat sore throats. It is manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare International Ltd., England.

Strepsils Lozenges contain 2 antiseptic ingredients.

Composition Of Strepsil Original

Each lozenge contains approx: 2,4-Dichlorobenzyl alcohol 1.2 mg and Amylmetacresol B.P. 0.6mg.

Composition Of Strepsil Max

Each lozenge contains approx: Hexylresorcinol 2.4 mg.

Composition Of Strepsil Orange

Each lozenge contains approx: 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol 1.2 mg, amylmetacresol 0.6 mg, vitamin C 100 mg.

Composition Of Strepsil Cool

Each lozenge contains approx: 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol 1. 2 mg, amylmetacresol 0.6 mg, menthol 7 mg.

Composition Of Strepsil Lemon And Honey

Each lozenge contains approx: 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol 1. 2 mg, amylmetacresol 0.6 mg, honey and lemon.

Pharmacological Action

Amylmetacresol and dybendal (2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol) have antiseptic properties. Menthol has a numbing and antiseptic action.

Indication Of Strepsil Lozenges

Fast, soothing effective relief when you have a mouth or throat infection.

Strepsil Lozenges Dosage

Adults and children over 5 years: Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 2 to 3 hours up to a maximum of 12 lozenges in 24 hrs. Not to be given to children under 5 years.

Contraindications

Allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Strepsils.

Special Precautions

Do not exceed the stated dose. Consult the medical doctor if symptoms persist, have not improved, or have worsened after 3 days, or if the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding. Remember that young children can choke on lozenges.

If the patient experiences any hypersensitivity to this product i.e. itching, burning sensation and/or discomfort of the mouth, stop taking this product and consult a doctor or pharmacist.

Do not take this product if the patient has intolerance to certain sugars such as fructose, glucose-galactose and sucrose-isomaltose.

Use In Pregnancy And Lactation

If pregnant or breastfeeding, consult the physician.

May occasionally cause allergic reactions.

Do Strepsils Contain Paracetamol?

No they do not contain paracetamol.

Can you take Strepsils with paracetamol?

No interactions was found between strepsil and paracetamol.

Can You Take Strepsils With Ibuprofen?

No interactions were found between ibuprofen and Strepsil.

Can You Take Strepsils With Antibiotics?

Strepsil is an antibiotic. Taking another antibiotics may not be worth it. However, Interaction between strepsil and antibiotics depends on the class and mechanism of action of that antibiotics.

Can Strepsils Kill You?

Strepsil contain mild antibiotics. Consuming many in a short period will lead to exxagaration of side effects. It is most likely not to kill you. Overdose studies indicate that in systemic overdose there might be a presence of a CNS transitory stimulation followed by CNS and cardiovascular.

Can You Take Strepsils With Blood Pressure Tablets?

No interactions were found between blood pressure lowering drugs and Strepsil.

Can you take strepsils with omeprazole?

No interactions were found between omeprazole tablet and Strepsil.
