Can I Take Postinor 2 Twice In A Week
Some years ago, it was advised that postinor 2 should not be taken two times in a menstrual cycle. However, with recent knowledge, it is possible to take it more than once in a menstrual cycle. What about taking it two times within a week? Let us find out about that.
Postinor 2 |
Postinor 2 is an emergency contraceptive. The active substance is 0.75 mg levonorgestrel in each tablet. The pack comes with 2 tablets in a sachet. The other ingredients are colloidal anhydrous silica, potato starch, magnesium stearate, talc, maize starch, lactose monohydrate (71.25 mg).
Postinor 2 is an emergency contraceptive that can be used within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected sex or if your usual contraceptive method has failed. It prevents about 84% of expected pregnancies. It will not prevent a pregnancy in every time and is more effective if you take it as soon as possible after unprotected sex. It is better to take it within 12 hours rather than delay until the third day.

Take both tablets at the same time as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours after you have had unprotected sex. Do not chew but swallow the tablets whole, with water if necessary. Do not delay taking the tablets. The tablets work better the sooner you take them after having unprotected sex.
Postinor 2 can be taken at any time in your menstrual cycle assuming you are not already pregnant or think you may be pregnant.
Can I Take Postinor 2 Twice In A Week
There is no direct answer to this question. This is because there is no literature review or research on this. What you will hear is advice based on calculated theory.
Postinor 2 contains just one hormone. This makes it less effective in preventing pregnancy. Dependence on it may lead to failure. Also, the dose of the hormone is very high. Repeated use can cause a sudden spike on the level in the body. This can lead to pronounced side effects.
If the Postinor 2 tablet is used more than once in a menstrual cycle, it is more likely to upset your menstrual cycle (period).

There is no limit to the number of times an individual can take Plan B, or the emergency contraceptive pill. People can take it as often as necessary to prevent an unplanned pregnancy. So you can take it twice a week, three times a week or more.
If you think you need repeated courses of emergency contraception, you should consider long-term methods of contraception.
There is another situation whereby postinor 2 can be repeated immediately. For example, when you take postinor 2 with another drug that can reduce its efficacy, it is advisable to use another dose to be on the safe side. This is also advisable after vomiting within a few hours of taking it.
Although there have been no reports of serious harmful effects from taking too many tablets at once, you may feel sick, actually be sick (vomit), or have vaginal bleeding.
