Ruzu Herbal Bitters For Infection
Ruzu herbal bitters (RHB) is a poly-herbal preparation that is widely taken in Nigeria. RHB is an aqueous preparation of Curculigo pilosa root (40%), Uvaria chamae stem (30%) and Citrullus colocynthis bark (40%). RHB is claimed for the management/treatment of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, infection and infertility among others including fibroid.

Antimicrobial agent is an agent that kills or inhibits the growth of microorganisms. A study of Ruzu herbal bitters showed that the product at the therapeutic dose inhibited the growth of Neisseria gonorrhoeae compared with Ciprofloxacin (standard drug) in animals. N. Gonorrhoeae is a sexually transmitted infection (STI). The use of Ruzu herbal bitters to treat N. Gonorrhoeae in humans have not been evaluated. It's claim that it is effective in treating STI can not be confirmed by clinical studies involving animals. However, the claim may be right.
