What actually cause body weakness, tired and fatigue

Energy For The Body

Humans are made of atoms that come together to form molecules and compounds which form cells. The cells come together and form tissues that eventually form organs and systems. Each cell is living and carries out all essential life processes. And to function, they need energy. The energy is supplied in the form of oxygen and glucose.

When we breathe in oxygen, it goes to the lungs where it mixes with the blood. The red blood cell (RBC) picks up oxygen and supplies it to various cells that need them according to their individual needs.

Glucose is generated in the body and travels in the bloodstream. It uses insulin molecules to open the door of cells. So for the cells to receive constant energy, there must be healthy RBC, steady oxygen supply, glucose and healthy cells to receive both oxygen and glucose.

When the cells of the body are starved of these two vital molecules, the cells loses energy to perform tasks it should have done. It leads to progressive organ failure and if untreated, death.

Causes Of Body Fatigue, Tiredness And Weakness

There are so many reasons oxygen and glucose does not get to the cells. When oxygen does not get to the cells as when due, the cells change to anaerobic metabolism. The end product is lactic acid which when it finds its way into the cell lead to damage of blood vessels. This eventually leads to cell damage that can cause weakness, tiredness and fatigue.

And when these cells don't get glucose due to lack of glucose or inability of the cells to accept glucose, the cells loses energy. The person starts feeling weak, tired and fatigued.

Type of diagnosis will depend on other symptoms that accompany the weakness, tiredness and fatigue. Some are;

1. Radiological test

2. Blood test

3. Blood laboratory

4. Vital signs

5. Blood pressure

6. Heart rate

7. Oxygen measurement

Pharmacotherapy/Treatment

Feeling tired, weak and fatigue is not a disease but a symptom of an underlying cause. After diagnosis, treatment depends on what is suspected and tries to restore supply of oxygen and glucose back to the cells.

The ABC rule comes to play here. They are airway, breathing and circulation. Always make sure the environment oxygen is enough and the nose is free. Then, check if the person can breath and if the blood is flowing.
