All the soft drink have acidic pH. The researcher increase the pH and temperature for each test experiment. The results showed that they all had an effect on the motility of the spermatozoa at acidic pH. It reduce motility. However, as the temperature and pH increase to alkaline, the effect is reversed except for one of the product. The effect is not enough to prevent pregnancy. As for krest bitter lemon (unadjusted), it immobilized all spermatozoa within a minute of addition.
With the above result, it is very possible that one can prevent pregnancy by douching the vagina immediately after sex with the krest bitter lemon. But this may not be of value after fertilization has taken place.
The researcher concluded that this needs further investigation as this can be a cheaper better alternative to prevention of pregnancy in low income countries like Nigeria.

Well, according to a medical doctor, the drink will pass through the normal digestive system. The useful nutrients get absorbed into the body while the waste gets eliminated. The whole process takes time. Time long enough for fertilization to take place. Besides, none of the product-waste or nutrients get directly to the spermatozoa in the vagina. So, it is a futile action drinking krest bitter lemon after sex to prevent pregnancy.
