Clotrimazole cream or tablets are designed to be inserted into the vagina and absorbed into the body.

It melts at body temperature, dissolves and subsequently is absorbed. The whole process takes between 15 minute to an hour.

The absorption of clotrimazole is necessary for it to work. It will not be absorbed into the body if the tablet does not dissolve. And it can only happen when the tablet stays in place. After absorption, there won't be any tablets in the vagina. There may be remnants in the form of particles.

You can leave these particles in there and they will naturally be cleared off the body. It is wrong to remove a clotrimazole tablet after insertion either immediately or after some time. If you remove it soon, the majority of the drug will not be absorbed into the body. If you remove it later, some of the drug will not be absorbed into the body. Both results lead to wrong dosage.
