Application For Renewal Of Annual Licence To Practice As A Pharmacists

Pharmacy is the science or practice of the preparation and dispensing of medicinal drugs. A pharmacist is a person who was formally trained in the act of pharmacy. Such a person must be registered with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).

A registered pharmacist is given a license. The license gives the pharmacist the power to practice the profession. That license covers a period of a year. It expires on the 31st of December of that year.

It is kind of compulsory for a pharmacist who wants to go for service to register with PCN for the first time. That is because the registration makes it possible to get a cover letter or license needed for the national youth service corps (NYSC) programme. But subsequent years depend on if the pharmacist wants to practice or not.

Renewal of Pharmacist registration

A pharmacist who wants to be a superintendent and register a premises must register with PCN before registering the premises. A pharmacist who just wants to practice without registering a premises can also do so.

It is called annual renewal of license and retention of name in the register.

How to Register Online for Annual License

Annual registration of pharmacists is very simple and straightforward.

1. Visit the office of your State Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and collect your clearance note. For pharmacists who want to register a premises, they will have to pay annual dues to the state and national bodies of PSN. Then a pharmacist in community pharmacy will have to pay for association of community pharmacist (ACPN) dues both state and national. Pay other dues ties to the association. After that, can a pharmacist be able to get a clearance letter. With this license, you can only work in the premises you register like in this case community pharmacy.

For pharmacists who don't want to register a premises, you only have to pay state and national PSN due and any other due attached. Example of such a due is PSN headquarters building due. With the licence, you can work in any area of specialization.

2. Visit the PCN office in your State and present the clearance from PSN to collect a SCRATCH CARD (this card is free).

3. When you enter the PORTAL (see link below), click on Sign-up if you are registering for the first time else click on Login.

4. Type your PIN and continue.

5. Please click submit registration for (year) when you are logged in.

6. Click on "Proceed to Portal" below to continue.

7. Continue to make payment for fees for Retention of Name on the Register.
