Side Effects And Dosage Of Hovid Perilon Tablet

Perilon tablet is a drug containing prednisolone 5mg. Each sachet of perilon contains 10 tablet packs in a box of 10 sachets. The tablet is round, white uncoated tablet, shallow convex faces; 'HD' embossed and scored on the same face.

Contraindication Of Perilon Tablet

Use is not recommended in nursing mothers whenever possible.

Precautions

1. Caution in patients with osteoporosis, peptic ulcer, psychoses, systemic fungal infections, diabolis mellitus, hypertension, myasthenia gravis, ocular herpes simplex glaucoma, hypothyroidism, history of tuberoulcals renal and hepatic function impairment

2. When medication is to be discontinued, dosage should be reduced gradually. Abrupt cessation of prolonged therapy may produce acute adrenal insufficiency

3. Frequent monitoring of drug effect is required

4. Caution in receiving vaccinations, other immunizations and skin test

5. Children on prolonged therapy should be closely observed

6. Sately for use in pregnancy have not been established

Main Side/Adverse Effects Of Hovid Perilon Tablet

Dyspepsia, peptic ulceration; ung tumors include Cushing's syndrome face, osteoporosis, mental changes and endocrine imbalance.

Drug Interactions

1. Response to prednisolone may be reduced by co-administration of barbiturates, phenytoin or rifampicin

2. Effects of oral anticoagulants or salicylates may be decreased when used concurrently with prediticione

3. Caution in patients receiving the following drug therapy; alcohol, anti-inflammatory medications, cardiac glycosides, ephedrine, heparin, hypoglycemics

Overdosage

Clinical features Nausea and vomiting, hyperglycaemia, occasional gastrointestinal bleeding

Dosage And Administration Of Perilon Tablet

Adults Oral, 5 to 60 mg a day as a single dose or in divided doses, not exciting 250mg daily Children: As directed by physician

The paediatric dosage is determined more by the severity of the condition and response of the patient by age or body weight.
