Nospamin Drop Make Babies Sleep

Nospamin drop is a drug given to children experiencing infant colic. Infant colic is frequent crying of babies over a long period of time without any known cause. One of the popular brands used for infant colic in Nigeria is Nospamin containing 2mg oral drop of homatropine methylbromide in 1 ml.

Homatropine methylbromide is a quaternary ammonium muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist belonging to the group of medicines called antimuscarinics. Homatropine is used to treat duodenal or stomach ulcers or intestine problems.

It can be used together with antacids or other medicine in the treatment of peptic ulcer. It may also be used to prevent nausea, vomiting, and motion sickness.

Does Nospamin Make Babies Sleep

The answer is no. Nospamin is used for stomach or intestine ulcers and infant colic. The list of its side effects don't have drowsiness. If you want to put your baby to sleep, Nospamin is not the option. However, it is not a good idea putting your child to sleep because of colic or other symptoms. Treat the cause.

Some of the common side effects of Nospamin are:

  • Eye swelling, redness or crusting
  • Red or puffy eyelids
  • Agitation
  • Stinging
  • Burning after using the eye drops
