The desire of every pharmacy student is to excel in academic. So, every action is center around achieving this set goals. One of the key decision in achieving this ambition is choice of friends. Of all, the choice of roommate supercedes them all.
For those who live in a school hostel, they have little control over their choice of roommate as the school authorities does allocate students to room according to their own discretion. The only time some students can bargain their room and choice of roommate is when they got staff assistance and in most cases require parting with some amount of cash.

But as for students living off-campus, they have two choice; live alone or pair with one or more roommates. Majority of students who have roommates does so because of several factors. They include;
a. Security: many students fear for the unknown. Living with someone increase security to some extent. It is also advisable for those with poor health condition to live with understanding roommates
b. Cost: majority of students pick roommate to help them split the cost of renting a good accommodation including running cost
c. Study mate: students who are in search of study mates don't usually consider them as roommate because the other person may have their own room but decided to live with them.

Tips For Getting A Good Roommate

To start with, it will be difficult to get a good roommate who is responsible in most aspect of life. The bottom line is a roommate that will be flexible enough for both of you to attain your main goal and objective. These persons can hardly be gotten on social media. Going over social media to solicit for roommate may not yield the desired result but there are some exceptions. Ask friends for assistance.
It may be difficult to tell how much a new person can influence us positively except given the chance. This is especially so when it is in year one. Let's just hope for luck. But look out for the following:
a. Having a roommate from pharmacy is not a bad idea. This is especially good if the person is some years ahead. It gives you some added advantage of knowing more senior course mates, making it easy to link up with lecturers. It will also open your eyes to the reading habit of those ahead and help prepare you for it.
When picking from other departments, ease be very picky. It is not advisable to pick a student from music department who will be playing musical instruments in the room during rehearsal or singing along. The department of your roommate matters alot including the level

b. Look out for the person's social life. Some can be so social it will interfere with their roommates privacy and peace of mind
c. Flexible persons are willing to blend in with you to make the house a comfort. Some don't want to. They may always complain how much you want to cheat them.
