The Good Things Microorganisms Do To Our Body And How To Protect Them

The good things microorganism do in our body
Importance of Microorganism
Microorganisms include bacteria, fungi, virus and bacteriophage. There are trillions of them in our body right now. The majority of them are bacteria, which are called microbiomes.
Microbiomes are divided into harmful and harmless bacteria. About 85 % of harmless bacteria live within our body why those that are harmful make up about 15 %.

There is no problem when those that are dangerous suddenly drops in an amount in the body but an increase could lead to imminent dangers such as disease condition. However, there are major problems when the good ones increase or decrease in number at any point in time. E.g., Staphylococcus aureus at low-level cause pimples. A little increase causes pneumonia while at the very high-level lead to toxic shock.

Probiotics are normally found in the skin and gut.

Scientists has over the years studied how the bad one cause our signs and symptoms and have device means of ending their reign at any time. However, few studies have been carried out as to how the beneficial one operate, if they help us or not. Luckily for us, the few scientist that have gone for such studies have been able to prove how they operate in our body.  We shall now discuss the benefits of the good ones known as probiotics as well as ways to protect them from being reduced.

Benefits Of Probiotics

Digestion: When we eat food, digestion normally starts from the mouth when mouth enzymes mix with food being chewed. It gets to the stomach which contains a high concentration of acid. This helps to destroy any bacteria that came with the food to the stomach. The food starts its hours of a journey through the small intestine, which contains many bacteria already waiting to eat. Yes! To eat. They eat the food that is coming to feed themselves but at the end help in breaking down the food to simple non-complex metabolites, your body can digest with ease.

Boost Immune System: Probiotics have been shown to boost the immune system in several ways. They are;

1. Competitive Blocking: They take up space harmful microbes want to attach to which may lead to a disease when it is successful. Since probiotics are harmless, the individual will be safe from disease.

2. Immune Stimulant: Sometimes the immune system may be too busy to know of an invader. Hence, probiotics sometimes inform the immune system by stimulating them to act. This may be in the form of increasing production of more immune cells or waking them to attack.

3. Autoimmune Disease: When the normal flora in the body has been altered, the immune cells in the body may mistake a normal cell for bad cells and attack because they are idle. Such attack can lead to some autoimmune disease like cancer. Probiotics can provide themselves for the attack thereby protecting the good cells in the body. A scientist has attributed the rise in cancer to the destruction of good microbes in the body.

a. Detoxifications: All living things exhibit all the characteristics of life, which include excretion. The products of excretion from bad organisms can be toxic to humans. However, we can be spared when probiotics take up these toxins as part of their own metabolic action. Some of their toxins are harmless to humans and dangerous to those microbes.

b. They Kill Harmful Microbes: They say when two elephant fights; it is the grass that suffers but not in this case. Some probiotics are stronger than others are and just like other wildlife animals do fight themselves, microbes are no exception. And the good news is that many of them are usually stronger than the bad ones but when it happens, we do not know some wrestling is going on inside of us. Their higher number is also an added advantage to their success as they may surround one bad one and make do with it.

c. Healthy Babies: It is known that the first bacteria a child gets is from the mother at the point of delivery. These bacteria are capable of helping the child digest milk from the mother as the days goes by. This is not the case with children that undergo a caesarian section.

d. Obesity: Several studies have proven that animals that are given constant antibiotics get fat with time. The constant fat is not because of a healthy living. It means there are no probiotics to help in digesting the right food.

e. Skin Care: The skin is the largest organ in the body covering more surface than any other organ does. It is constantly being exposed to the environment containing trillions of microbes both good and bad. The bad ones will be able to cause deep skin infections or surface infections if the skin is without probiotics. Most probiotics in the skin produce chemicals that are harmful only to the bad ones why keeping the skin safe. One of the most common chemicals produced is an acid.

f. Oral Bacterial: Foods we eat sometimes leaves residue for microbes to prey on. They may proliferate and cause harm to our teeth and give us bad breath. Fortunately, this is normally reverse with the help of probiotics.

g. Allergies: Probiotics have been shown to reduce allergies of certain triggers.

Tips To Protect Your Probiotics

a. Bath Less: Yeah! Too many showers remove lipids and oils that are suitable for probiotics growths from your skin and also removes good and bad bacteria. Avoid high areas where the likelihood to pick up harmful ones after taking your bath is high. After a shower, there are few microbes in the skin including good and bad. If you enter a place where there are more dangerous ones than good ones, there will not be good ones to help you fight off the disease. E.g., avoid the use of toilet after immediately taking your bath.

b. Soap Choice: Avoid or use fewer soaps that are antiseptics. Antiseptics destroy all microbes without selection. Also, avoids chlorinated water (fluorinated) when bathing.

c. Agriculture Products: Avoid agricultural chemicals. They are all poisonous to probiotics.

d. Home Care: Always open your house and car windows when at home. This will allow both fresh air and probiotics to come in since there are more bad ones in the house than good ones since there is a toilet there.

e. Wash Your Dish: Wash your dish with hand and not the dishwasher. A little way of getting your hands dirty.

f. Avoid Antibiotics As Much As Possible: Antibiotics kills both good and bad since there are different species targeted. This is because a target species of bad microbes have the same mechanism of action to a particular drug with another probiotic. These antibiotics are also found in some foods we eat like meats that were once treated with antibiotics. They most time retain the antibiotic in their system. Avoid them if you can or reduce them to the barest minimum

g. Eat Balance Diet: Like food rich in fibre since this is the best food for them while avoiding sugars, excess starch, and vegetable oil. Consume fermented drinks like yoghurt because they are rich in probiotics.

i. Get Your Hands Dirty: Yes you read it right. It is bad to always get someone else to do the dirty job. You are helping to build their immune system leaving yours to the mercy of antibiotics. Too bad.

j. Brushing Your Teeth: Avoid brushing your teeth too often and if possible use chewing stick. Too much fluoride destroys probiotics that protect your mouth and teeth.

Modern cleanliness has rob the past generation of those bacteria base building experience. Research has shown that children playing in the mud, eating dirt are stronger. This is because they have developed an immunity that is strong as they are exposing themselves to lots of microbes.
