Pharmaceutical excipients are substances other than the pharmacologically active drug or prodrug which are included in the manufacturing process or are contained in a finished pharmaceutical product dosage form. They are not no longer inert materials but they are effective and able to improve the characteristics of the products’ quality, stability, functionality, safety, solubility and acceptance of patients. It can interact with the active ingredients and alter the medicament characteristics. Pharmaceutical excipient Drugs contain active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). In addition to the API, most of them come with one or more functional ingredients. These ingredients are called excipients.
