Can I Use Metronidazole Gel Without Applicator

Metronidazole vagina gel is applied to the vagina using an applicator. The applicator is always supplied with the pack. It cannot be applied without an applicator.

The reason metronidazole vagina gel cannot be use without an applicator is that;

1. Hygiene: it is easier to maintain high personal hygiene with an applicator than using hands or other devices. This is because the applicator is disposable. The reusable ones are smooth and can easily be cleaned and reused.

2. Dose: it is easy to measure the accurate dose using the applicator. Using another device will result in the wrong dose.

3. Depth: the gel needs to get to somewhere for it to be effective. The applicator will make it easy for the gel to get there without losing some dose to the side.
