Research showed that neither aspirin or acetaminophen in the doses given alter either total menstrual loss or the pattern of loss during the first 3 menstrual days.

So the idea that aspirin causes heavy menstrual bleeding or longer than usual is wrong. However, the belief may be true if the dose is altered.

Blood thinning effect is achieved with a lower daily dose of aspirin. It may affect the menstrual period if used at this dose. Women of child bearing age taking daily doses of aspirin should put this in mind.
