Composition Of Livolin Forte
Each softgel capsule contains:
Essential Phospholipids (Polyunsaturated Phosphatidylcholine) 300 mg
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine mononitrate) Ph. Eur 10 mg
Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) Ph. Eur. 6mg
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine HCI) Ph. Eur. 10 mg
Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) 10 mcg
Nicotinamide Ph. Eur 30 mg
Vitamin E Acetate (Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate) Ph. Eur 10 mg

Indication And Use Of Livolin Forte
Liver disease of any origin: acute, sub-acute, chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, toxic metabolic liver disease, intoxications (e.g. from drugs), alcoholic fatty liver, pre- and post-operative care, especially in liver / gallbladder surgery, cholestasis.
Dosage Of Livolin Forte
Unless otherwise prescribed by the physician, take one capsule three times daily with meals
Pharmacological Action
Phosphatidylcholine has hepatoprotective effects e.g. protection against ethanol, alkyl alcohols, tetrachlorides, paracetamol and galactosamine. Phosphatidylcholine appears to be a defense against steatosis and fibrosis of the liver by speeding regeneration and stabilization of membranes, and stopping lipid peroxidation.

Vitamin B complex and vitamin E prevent oxidative stress with correction of nutritional deficiency causing alteration in the ethanol induced immunomodulatory activities and associated liver diseases.
Drug Interactions
Phosphatidylcholine has no known interactions with other drugs.
Vitamin B6 may decrease serum levels of levodopa, phenobarbital and phenytoin (patients taking levodopa without carbidopa should avoid taking together with the livolin forte.
Overdosage
Phosphatidylcholine overdosage is not known.
Vitamin B1: anorexia, headache, insomnia, irritability, nausea, nervousness, palpitations, tremor and vomiting have been rarely reported as an overdose response.

Vitamin B6: symptoms include ataxia and sensory neuropathy with doses of 50 mg to 2 grams daily over prolonged periods. Acute doses of 70 – 357 mg / kg have been well tolerated.
Nicotinamide: symptoms include GI distress. Treatment is supportive.
Pregnancy And Lactation
Livolin Forte should be avoided in use by pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects Of Livolin Forte
At higher dosages, it may cause reduced appetite, nausea, abdominal bloating, gastrointestinal pain, and diarrhea.
Contraindications
Not indicated in patients with depression (unipolar or clinical depression) unless under the supervision of a physician.
