Super Apeti Plus syrup is an antihistamine (antiallergic) and antiserotonergic agent. It is used for itchy eyes and body, running nose and other allergic conditions. In Nigeria and some other African countries, it is used as an appetite stimulant. Super Apeti Plus Syrup is available in a 200ml bottle.

Composition Of Super Apeti Plus Syrup

Each 5ml syrup contains:

Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Anhydrous Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride 2mg, Lysine Hydrochloride BP 150mg, Thiamine Hydrochloride BP 1.5mg, Riboflavin BP 0.5mg, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 1.5mg, Nicotinamide BP 10mg, Cyanocobalamin BP 1mcg, Dexpanthenol BP 10mg.

The other ingredients are: Citric Acid Monohydrate BP, Potassium Sorbate BP, Propylene Glycol BP, Saccharin Sodium BP, Sodium Benzoate BP, Sodium Hydroxide BP, Sorbitol Solution BP (70% Non crystallising).

Use And Indication Of Super Apeti Plus Syrup

Super Apeti Plus syrup contains Cyproheptadine along with lysine and B vitamins. It is used for the treatment of:

• Rhinitis (inflammation and swelling inside of the nose)
• Perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and non-allergic rhinitis
• Allergic conjunctivitis (pink eye)
• Mild, uncomplicated allergy of the skin. A skin reaction to cold, Dermatographism (skin writing)
• As a supportive therapy for serious allergy
• Loss of appetite, Growth & recovery of health and strength after illness.

Warning And Precautions

Do not take Super Apeti Plus Syrup if you are allergic to cyproheptadine or any of the other ingredients of Super Apeti Plus Syrup and/or if you have: prostate hypertrophy, problem of passing urine, increased pressure inside the eye, severe asthma, stomach ulcer and pyloroduodenal obstruction in the digestive tract. Consult your pharmacist or physician before using super apeti plus syrup if you have asthma, overactive thyroid, heart disease and increased blood pressure.

Taking Other Medicines

Super Apeti Plus syrup may have additive or undesirable effects with alcohol and medicines for example monoamine oxidase inhibitors, atropine, tricyclic antidepressants and aminoglycosides. Pyridoxine in super apeti plus syrup reduces the effects of medicine (levodopa).

Use In Children

Safety and efficacy in children below the age of two years have not been established.

Use Elderly Patients

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using as feeling faint and sedation is more likely to occur in elderly patients.

Pregnancy And Breast-feeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Super Apeti Plus e Syrup if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Driving And Using Machines

Do not drive or use any tools or machines while taking Super Apeti Plus Syrup as it can make you sleepy.

Super Apeti Plus Syrup Dosage

Dosage should be individualized by your doctor or pharmacist as per your need and your response to the therapy.

If this medicine is from your pharmacist or doctor, do exactly as they have told you. Otherwise follow the instructions below.

Children: (2-6 years): 5 ml, 2 to 3 times daily before food.

(7-14 years): 10 ml, 2 to 3 times daily before food.

Adults: 10 ml, 3 times daily before food.

Treatment Of Overdose

If you take more amount of SuperApeti Plus Syrup than you should contact your health care provider immediately and say exactly how much you have taken. Your health care provider will advise you what to do. It is important to contact your health care provider even if you feel well.

Side Effects Of Super Apeti Plus Syrup

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common side effects may include: drowsiness (often transient), faintness, blurred vision, dryness of mouth, and excitation.

Consult the Healthcare Professional if the following occur: tremor, seizure, hallucination, ringing in ears, palpitation, difficulties passing urine, headache, fatigue, chill. Super Apeti Plus syrup may cause yellow colouring of urine (linked to Riboflavin).
