Pharmacy, according to Wikipedia is the science and technique of preparing, dispensing and reviewing of drugs with the provision of additional clinical services. Pharmacy profession is linked with other health sciences with pharmaceutical science. The boundaries between pharmacy and these related discipline are not always clear-cut. This open the link between pharmacy and other health care.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy aim to ensure the safe, effective and affordable use of drugs. The profession is classified into community or industry (institution) pharmacy. However, it is divided into pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry and pharmacognosy and pharmacy practice.

Pharmacology, Toxicity And Therapeutic

This is a department in pharmacy. However, some schools offer it in their first degree programme. Pharmacist can specialise in pharmacology in postgraduate programme. This course deals on the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs. That is what the body does to the drug and what the drug does to the body. They are valuable in industry pharmacy.

Medical Biochemistry

Drugs will not be complete if it is not safe to use. Sharing very important link with pharmacy, biochemistry deals on life in a molecular form as it relates to drugs. How the chemical of the body react to external influences such as drug is vital for drug analysis in the industry.

Chemistry

Very close to biochemistry, this course is the bedrock of pharmacy. However, graduates of chemistry who are interested in pharmacy will focus more on synthesis of drug and it's molecule.

Microbiology

They work in a laboratory to investigate tiny organism and how they impact on healthy life. They study the solution on how to eliminate these organism when it is outside the body.

Botany

They study plants and its components. It is from that information they understand how plants can be use to heal the nation. Their importance is gradually getting the needed attention.

Medicine And Surgery

Sometimes called the brother to pharmacy, it is one course many people make comparison with pharmacy. With a strong focus on anatomy and body structures, they carry out surgery. With little focus on pharmacology, they can prescribe medication for pharmacist to interpret with counselling. Some can work in pharmacy industry.

Pharmacy Technician

They are trained in the field of prescription interpretation. From school of health technology, they provide unmatched contribution as support staff to pharmacist in various fields. They work under the guidance of a pharmacist. They can work in hospitals, community pharmacy and industry.

Pharmaceutical Technology

From polytechnic with ordinary and higher national diploma (OND and HND), they are trying to win recognition for themselves. They have tried to define their job description in Nigeria. However, it is not very clear yet.
