GG Cold is a capsule marketed in Nigeria by Geneith Pharm limited, Lagos State. It is produced by Fredyn pharmaceuticals LTD, India. It is a combination of two active ingredients to treat allergies.

Composition Of GG Cold

Each capsule contains:

Chlorpheniramine maleate B.P. 4 mg. Phenylephrine Hydrochloride B.P. 5 mg.

In the above combination of drugs Phenylephrine is used for providing symptomatic relief to symptoms associated with nasal congestion as it exerts action due to vasoconstriction which relieves congestion.

Chlorpheniramine Maleate is a sedative Antihistamine and blocker of histamine at H1 receptors, hence opposes the effect of histamine. It also inhibits the increased capillary permeability, itching and flash response of histamine.

Adverse Effects Of GG Cold

The above combination of drugs when taken orally may exhibit mild burning and stinging sensation, sneezing, sedation, anti-muscular effects.

Indications Of GG Cold

It is indicated for patients having problems related to Nasal congestion, allergic conditions such as perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis, urticaria, contact dermatitis, pruritus, insectbites, drug rashes, meniere's disease, motion sickness and other forms of nausea and vomiting.

Contraindications Of GG Cold

This drug is contraindicated in case of infants, debilitated patients, patients with impaired cough reflex, acute porphyria, hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions Of GG Cold

Avoid drinking or working with machinery while consuming this drug. It has to be used with caution on pregnant and breastfeeding women. It may be used on elderly people in reduced doses.

Dosage Of GG Cold

Adults and Children above 12 years: 1 capsule every 4 to 6 hrs. max. 4 capsules/day. Not suitable for children below 12 years of age.
