Prohibited Items Corp Members Must Not Bring To NYSC Orientation Camp

Items you must not take to orientation camp
Spoon and fork
The national youth service corps (NYSC) orientation programme is for three weeks. During this period, camp officials live in this place to dish out instructions, morals, discipline to all corp members living in the camp. For the next three weeks, security is of top gear. There are different modalities put in place to ensure this. From safety from hoodlums to fire hazards down to others.
To ensure all these, the gate is always maned by security men. They ensure non authorized persons do not get access to the camp. They also prevent authorized persons from bringing in dangerous items. There are places even soldiers are not expected to bring their riffles. As for corp members, there are things they are not to come along with. Some are for valid reasons but others I think were done to push corp members to patronise those in mami market. Read on as I will explain this later in this post.
For some of us that were not aware, we came with some prohibited items. However, during the stop and search at the gate, we were told to submit them. You will be ask if you came along with any of the listed items. If you said yes, you will be ask to submit it. With our NYSC mobilization number written on it, we are to get them back a day before passing out parade in camp.

Prohibited Items

Cutlery

You can bring your spoon along. They even allow iron spoon. I know they are still allowing iron spoon because there have not been any record of injury from iron spoon but we know how prisoners convert these to dangerous weapons. But on no account should you come along with knife or fork. Since the search at the gate may not be that thorough, use your own initiative to submit it. If it is found on you during camp, you may have query to answer if the wrong guy found it on you. You must not go with glass cup or any ceramic. Everything must be rubber or plastic.

Metals

Metals of any kind are not allowed. They range from needle of any type, scissors of any type including surgical, blades, etc.

Electric Iron

An electric Iron is not allowed. A hot electric Iron can be use as a weapon. Even the cold one can be use as a weapon. An electric Iron that is plug into an electric socket unattended to can cause fire outbreak. Since you live in cluster, this is very possible when you think somebody else wants to use it and both of you forgot it.

Adapter/Electric Extension

I have a rechargeable torch that is faulty that I have been using for a long time now. Buy it is wrong to take it to a public place because other people who may like to borrow it may not know that it is faulty. It can cause body harm or fire. I have to leave it at home and got a new one. Some persons like to manage things even when it is dangerous. If you are the only one using it, you can understand how to use it. But bringing it to where others may get their hands on it can expose others to danger. That is why electric extension and adapter are not allowed in camp. However, I know that the issue of adapter is to encourage corp members to patronize Mami market. When the few available sockets in the room is charging just some few phones, the rest will have no choice than to patronize Mami market. It is not common to see faulty adapter.

Perfume/Body Spray

You are not allowed to go to camp with perfume or body spray. Some are highly flammable. Also, body spray can be use as instrument by directing the spray at someone's eyes.

Vehicles

This is a warning obvious on NYSC dashboard. You don't need a car because throughout your three weeks stay, you will not be allowed to go anywhere.
