Suicidal thoughts or ideas are common among university students in Nigeria. Some make an attempt and a handful succeed. It is not very common in pharmacy school. However, there have been a couple of suicide by pharmacy students in Nigeria. It is not limited to a group of students. It cuts across various departments, students of all ages, status, background, gender, academic status, etc. There are so many causes of suicidal thoughts in university students. They range from academic performance, career goal, death of a family member or friend, family problems, social relationship, finances, health of a close person or oneself, personal appearance, sleep difficulty and bullies. Field trip report My field trip report was very good in my eyes back in the days. Many years later, I laugh when I consider it again. Imagine the face of the supervisor as he reads through. Pharmacy students scholarship The joy of most students in university is to be financially buoyant. However, this is not always the case due to the kind of economic situations in the country.

Once a project topic has been approved, the next steps in some cases is to write a project proposal. This is not always the case. It all depends on if your supervisor wants one. The truth is that proposals for undergraduate school projects is a little bit different from when one wants to write a proposal for other projects.

Clerkship report After the end of the clerkship programme for pharmacy students, it is expected of them to prepare a formal case report. The report is all about the case of a patient that the student helped review during the clerkship period. Students are not expected to handle two cases. The report can be both in group and individual. The group case report follows a similar pattern with the individual format. The only difference is that the group will be presented as a slideshow and defended by the students belonging to the group.

Pharmaceutical chemistry lab Pharmaceutical Chemistry (P.H.C) is a major and very important department in pharmacy school. It encompasses drug design, synthesis, and the evaluation of drug efficacy and safety. Technically, it evolves from pharmacognosy and traditional medicine whereby natural remedies are extracted from plants. The extracts were isolated, purifies, and identified.

Pharmacy lecture Pharmacy students will obviously face lectures from year one. Year one lectures are courses mainly by Faculty of Science (F.O.S). The FOS designs the methods adopted by these lecturers. The other year one course that is organised by the school such as General Study’s (G.S.T) lectures are somewhat similar. Since all year one normally experiences the same lecture design, I will not discuss it now.

Pharmacognosy and Traditional medicine Laboratory Pharmacognosy and traditional medicine is the oldest branch of all pharmaceutical sciences. Since it is argued that the oldest form of treatment was with the use of herbs, we can confidently say pharmacognosy and traditional medicine is the oldest form of all sciences.

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (P.C.N) is a Federal Government Agency that is charged with the responsibility of regulating and controlling the practice and education, training of pharmacists and pharmacy technician in all aspects and ramifications. They determine the standard of knowledge and skills by pharmacy students. This may be the reason for the introduction of PCN student register, which is called pharmacy student indexing. Student Indexing is a mandatory procedure for the registration of students who intend to pursue a Pharmacy program by assigning them unique identifiers (index number). Indexing will provide a link between the learners, training institutions, and the PCN. The pharmacy student register (index) which was introduced this year is to be filled by undergraduate pharmacy students and must be submitted to PCN and may be used by PCN to checkmate the activities of pharmacy schools. Medical Biochemistry Laboratory Medical Biochemistry, another interesting course under basic medicals embedded in pharmacy school curriculum in Nigeria. It is among the three medical courses, which pharmacy students offer in school. Majority of the course content learned in the laboratory will be used in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry (P.C.H) laboratory in the future.

Pharmacy school vacation Days in the university is one that is not easily forgotten. It may bring satisfaction or regret or both depending on how it was managed. This is a very important stage of a young life of which the experience you create is totally your responsibility.

Pharmacists Oath In Nigeria Pharmacists’ oath or the oath of pharmacists is vow administered to graduates on the day of induction into the profession. These oaths is read by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (P.C.N) Registrar while the pharmacy students being inducted stand on their feet with right hands raised up to recite the oath.

Anatomy laboratory Another very important laboratory in pharmacy is the anatomy laboratory. The period pharmacy students study anatomy is usually a year.
