Each capsule contains: Ibuprofen BP 200mg. Paracetamol BP 325 mg, Caffeine BP 30mg.

Ibucap and Ibucap Forte is an antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug.

Pharmacological Action

In Ibucap/Ibucap Forte, Paracetamol exhibits analgesic action by peripheral blockage of pain impulse generation. It produces anti-pyresis by inhibiting the hypothalamic heat-regulating center. Ibuprofen inhibits prostaglandin production around the body by blocking the cyclooxygenase enzymes known as COX-1 and COX-2. Caffeine acts as a Central nervous system stimulant due to a blockade of receptors for the neurotransmitter / neuromodulator adenosine.

Therapeutic Indications Of Ibucap And Ibucap Forte

Non-articular rheumatic conditions, Osteo-arthritis, Cervical spondylosis, Infective inflammation, Dental and traumatic inflammation, Pain and fever associated with inflammation.

Contraindications

Ibucap/Ibucap Forte is contraindicated in patients with impaired kidney or liver function, cardiac arrhythmias, active peptic ulcer and gastrointestinal bleeding. Ibucap/Ibucap Forte is also not suitable for the patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the drug.

Dosage and Method Of Administration Of Ibucap And Ibucap Forte

Ibucap Capsules

Adults: 4 to 6 capsules per day or as prescribed by the physician.

Children under 12 years: Not suitable for children under 12 years.

Ibucap Forte Capsules

Adults and Children over 12 years: Initial dose 1 capsule, then if necessary, 1 capsule every 4 hours. Do not exceed 3 capsules daily.

Children under 12 years: Not suitable for children under 12 years.

Elderly: No special dosage modifications are required, unless renal or hepatic function is impaired, in which case dosage should be assessed individually or as prescribed by the physician.

Adverse Reaction

Long-term use may lead to gastric ulcer, anti inflammatory drug induced allergy, asthma, hypertension, hepatic. renal dysfunction, insomnia, vertigo and abdominal pain. Large doses may cause restlessness, excitement, muscle tremor, tachycardia, liver damage & renal failure with acute tubular necrosis.

Usage in Pregnancy And Lactation

Ibucap/Ibucap Forte is not safe in pregnancy and in nursing mothers.

Drug Interactions

Cholestyramine: Reduces absorption of Ibucap/Ibucap Forte.

Activated charcoal: if administered immediately after administration of Ibucap/Ibucap Forte, reduces absorption of Ibucap/Ibucap Forte.

Domperidone and metoclopramide: Enhance absorption of Ibucap/Ibucap Forte.

Alcohol: Chronic excessive ingestion of alcohol potentiates hepatotoxicity of Ibucap/Ibucap Forte.

Zidovudine: Effects of zidovudine may be decreased.

Lithium: Raised blood lithium levels.

Aspirin and other NSAIDs: Increased risk of bleeding and or peptic ulcers.

Methotrexate: Ibucap/Ibucap Forte increases the risk of toxicity.

Diazepam: Ibucap/Ibucap Forte induces impairment of cognitive skills & relaxation of extraocular muscles.

Pentobarbital: Ibucap/Ibucap Forte activates the hypnotic effect of Pentobarbital.

Symptoms Of Over Dosage And its treatment

Ibuprofen: Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, and headache. Liver damage may become apparent 12 to 48 hours after ingestion. Gastric lavage or induced emesis may be used for the treatment. Specific therapy with an antidote such as acetyl cysteine or methionine may be necessary.

Caffeine: symptoms include recurrent coffee ground emesis, diuresis, tachycardia, and CNS stimulation.
