There are many antibiotics used in the treatment of typhoid. They all have different levels of activity against the bacteria. However, there are three main antibiotics suitable for typhoid with high activity against it. They are ciprofloxacin oral for non-pregnant adults. Also, oral azithromycin and amoxicillin and clavulanic acid are equally effective. Severe typhoid is treated with ceftriaxone injection.
