Constituents Of Yoyo Bitters
The locally produced yoyo bitters were found to be moderate in its content of saponins and flavonoids as these were its highest constituents. Saponins, flavonoids and total phenols are in significant quantities and relatively higher than other phytochemicals quantitatively determined and this may be associated with the antioxidant properties of yoyo bitters.
Constituents Of Yoyo Bitters That Are Anti-infective
The presence of tannins and flavonoids in yoyo bitters could explain the claim of its being an anti-infective agent as tannin and flavonoid have been associated with stimulation of phagocytic cells, host -mediated tumour activity and a wide range of anti-infective actions. Phenol and phenolic compounds have antifungal and antibacterial effects. Saponins are useful in wound healing.

That is not all. There are testimonies from people in Nigeria on how they opt for bitters and have Reid from some infection. As a scientist it is wrong to base my argument on that because research puts control into consideration which is not obtainable here. However, it is also wrong to disprove their opinions.
