Yoyo Bitters And Fibroid

Yoyo bitters is an oral poly herbal liquid preparation popularly marketed and used in Nigeria. Its use is rapidly increasing among patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. This is because it has been claimed to regulate blood pressure, control body weight, and facilitate digestion among others. Contained various parts of plants such as aloe vera, cinnamomum aromaticum, citrus aurantifolia, acinos arvensis, and chenopodium murale.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defined herbal medicine as: ‘any part of a plant in which one or more of its parts can be used for therapeutic purposes or as precursors for the synthesis of useful drugs. Herbal medicines include herbs, herbal materials, herbal preparations and finished herbal products that contain parts of plants or other plant materials as active ingredients.

Medicinal herbal bitters on the other hand contain blended ingredients in a water or alcohol base used for the treatment of illnesses. Bitters contain complex carbohydrates, secondary metabolites, vitamins and minerals that have antioxidant, antiviral and other pharmacological properties. They are used to aid digestion and metabolism, relieve occasional heartburn, calm upset stomach and nausea, increase absorption of fat soluble vitamins, help maintain healthy blood sugar levels, ease constipation and regulate bowel movements, help mop up free radicals and stimulate immune function among others.

Fibroid

Fibroid is a non-cancerous growth in the uterus that can develop during a woman's childbearing years. The cause of fibroids isn't well understood. Risk factors include a family history of fibroids, obesity or early onset of puberty. Symptoms include heavy menstrual bleeding, prolonged periods and pelvic pain. In some cases, there are no symptoms.

People may experience pain in the abdomen, lower back, or pelvis. Also abnormal menstruation, heavy menstruation, irregular menstruation, painful menstruation, or spotting. Also common is abdominal distension or leg cramps

Yoyo Bitters And Fibroid

Yoyo bitters has been promoted as a herbal formulation that treats all. There is nowhere the manufacturer mentions fibroid as one of the indications. However, many people are abusing this alcoholic herbal mixture with the hope of curing the fibroid.

Treatment of fibroid includes medicine, procedure and operations. Medicines include birth control pills and hormonal birth control methods, gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists, progestin releasing intrauterine device, etc.

There is no way yoyo bitters and it's compounds can shrink fibroid. None of the compounds has been found to shrink fibroid. Although some claim that Yoyo bitters regulate hormones, there is no proven theory that it can treat fibroid.
