Pharmacy programme with a doctor of pharmacy (Pharm D) degree was launched sometime last year. It is like they are yet to have their first year pharmacy student due to Covid-19 pandemic. However, it has not been accredited.
Mode Of Admission
Gregory university accepts three modes of admission into their school. They are through joint admission and matriculation board (JAMB), Pre-degree and Direct entry (DE)
JAMB Admission Process
Candidates seeking enrolment into Gregory university must pass five O'level subjects in not more than two sittings. They include English language, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. In addition to that, they must pass unitary tertiary matriculation examination (UTME) with 160 and above to be eligible for post UTME.
Form for Gregory University post UTME is ₦5000 at the bursary office of the university. However, candidate who cannot get to the school can buy the post UTME screening form online for ₦5500.
The examination is a computer based test (CBT). Was unable to get the actual number of questions and their time but all questions were pulled from four science subjects which are English language, physics, chemistry and biology.
Pre-degree Programme
Pre-degree programme is a programme designed to enable students gain admission into year one with less stress. Candidates are tutored under a year to face two semester examinations. The score is used to select candidates into undergraduate programs. Courses are English language, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
Application form is ₦10000. School fees are of two types. Residents pay ₦350000 as school fees while non-resident pay ₦150000 as school fees. Don't forget the acceptance fee of ₦50000 bringing the total to ₦400000 for residents and ₦200000 for non-resident students.
Direct Entry
GU accepts candidate into year two. Although pharmacy in GU is still an infantry, how to gain admission direct into year two will soon come handy. They accept degrees from science subjects. However, applicants must meet the other admission requirements such as five O'level credit passes in English language, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology in not more than two sittings. And they must graduate with good grades. Also, they are expected to apply to GU through JAMB DE application. I am not very sure they write screening examinations.
Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB)
GU accepts JUPEB programmes and has one. It is a programme that runs for a year with two semesters. Each semester ends with an examination which is used in grading. Candidates who wish to study in the GU JUPEB programme must meet the admission requirements for pharmacy such as five O'level credit pass in English language, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology in not more than two sittings.
GU JUPEB programme form is sold for ₦10000. The tuition fee is ₦280000 and the acceptance fee is ₦50000. That brings the total to ₦340000.
Undergraduate Pharmacy
The first thing admitted students must do is to buy the school acceptance fee which is ₦50000. Unfortunately as at today, the tuition fee for pharmacy is not yet available. However, we expect it to be in the range of medicine and surgery programme school fees. Medicine and surgery programme tuition fee in year one is ₦1450000, guardian form fee is ₦20000, development levy is ₦20000, scholars body fee is ₦10000. Others are physical) medical examination and sport development fee is ₦150000 bringing the grand total to ₦1750000.

Year two and subsequent years have a fixed fee and they are tuition fee of ₦1020000, guardian fee is ₦20000, development levy is ₦20000 and scholars body is ₦10000 which total ₦13400000. In addition to all that, the cost of accommodation (8 bed space) is ₦150000, 4 bed space is ₦200000 and 2 bed space is ₦250000.
Most private universities don't allow their students to stay off campus. I don't expect GU to be any less. However, the place is very busy with accommodation available.
