Uyo in Akwa-ibom state, Nigeria is the host to the university of Uyo (Uniuyo). Formerly known as Unicross as it was once the university of Cross river state as a state university established in 1981. In 1st of October, 1991, it was changed to a federal university and the named changed took effect. It inherited its students, staffs, academic programmes and the entire facilities of the erstwhile university of Cross river state. Academic activities commenced during the 1991/92 academic session. Uniuyo has about 12 faculties, the postgraduate school and the school of continuing education.
Uniuyo has many campuses scattered around the state. The main campus also known as permanent site accommodate parts of central administration, faculty of engineering, natural and applied sciences, International Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Research (I.C.E.E.S.R), and the postgraduate school. The town campus which accommodates faculties of Arts, Education, social science and pharmacy. The Annex campus is home to the faculties of Agricultural science, business administration, law, environmental studies and general studies. Ime Umanah Campus, Ediene Abak is where we found the pre degree, joint university preliminary examination board (J.U.P.E.B) programme and the other courses in the school.

The campus started in 1930 as a practising school and became a teacher training college in the 1940s. It was upgraded to Advance teachers training college in the 1960s. In 1975, it became a college of education.
University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) is a tertiary hospital in Abak road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the administrative division of Nigeria. The hospital was established in 1999.

Jamb Utme

Uniuyo accepts two sitting with a minimum of five credit pass in English language, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology in O'level. In Jamb, they do not accept candidates who choose them as second choice institution. The minimum score from Utme is 180 and above in the use of English language, physics, chemistry and mathematics.
Candidates who fulfil the above conditions should then proceed to buy Uniuyo post Utme form for the sum of N2000 which is excluding bank charges. The form is processed online. It requires uploading documents such as O'level result, Utme result, passport size photograph. These documents must also be packed inside a quato size envelop and labelled with candidates name, department applied for and registration number and brought in the screening day.
The Uniuyo post Utme is a computer based test assessment of 100 questions. 25 questions from each of the Utme subjects which are the use of English language, physics, chemistry and biology. Time allocated is about one hour but most candidates claim the time is never up to.
About 2428 candidates do choose Uniuyo as first choice of preferred study. 20 and 1 place them in position 2 and 3 respectively.

Pre Degree

Admission into uniuyo Pre-degree Programme is open to candidates with at least fives Credits Pass in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, biology, and mathematics in not more than two sittings from O'level. Candidates are also expected to pick JAMB UTME form. Admission into this programme requires an entrance examination using Computer Base Test (C.B.T).
The pre-degree form goes for N10500. This is done online. The entrance examination is from four subjects which are the use of English Language, physics, chemistry, and biology. The examination is conducted once a year and no supplementary list. Lecture in English, Physics, Chemistry, agricultural Science and biology. The lecture takes place during weekdays. Two semester lasting a few months with each ending in an examination. Both first semester and final semester examination is Multiple-choice questions using CBT. Both result combined to access the candidates academic Performance. However, candidates must pass the School JAMB cut off mark for that year. Presently its stands at 180.
The accommodation that is available is only for female students. The accommodation fee is the same with what undergraduate students pay. Acceptance fee is N15000. The school fees is N94000

Direct Entry

In addition to JAMB admission requirements by all candidates to have at least five credit passes from O'level result in English language, chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics in not more than two sittings, candidates must possess a second class (honours) lower division and above.
Uniuyo accepts A level results from Cambridge, Interim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B), Joint Unitary Preliminary Examination Board, etc. There is a Jupeb programme from Uniuyo. The programme entry requirements is the same with the entry requirements from candidates who wish to apply for their pre degree. That is five O'level credit pass in English language, physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. The form cost N15500 and is purchased online. The questions are coined from the five subjects which is English language, biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Just like in other schools, the questions are about 100.
Candidates are expected at the screening ground with a passport size photograph, a copy of online registration, HB pencil and eraser with a quarto size envelop and labeled with the candidates name and department. GSM, calculators, four figure tables are not allowed into the venue.
Just like the others, the programme have two semesters. Lectures on four subjects including practicals from Monday through Fridays. The four subjects are English language, chemistry, biology and mathematics. The examination is a mix of theory and practical questions. The first semester examination is organised by Uniuyo and contributes about 30% of the total grade while the second semester organised by Jupeb balance the remaining 70% of the total grade.the examination span a period of three weeks with two papers in a day. Each paper last a for about 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours.
The school fees is paid in the two semesters. The school fees for first semester is N149000 while second semester is N44000. Departmental due is N500 per semester. Accommodation is reserved for only female students and is same price with undergraduates students.
Candidates who in the course of the programme should buy Jamb direct entry form. This also applies to candidates who want to study pharmacy in Uniuyo with relevant degree. Uniuyo should be filled in the form as first choice institution of study. The Uniuyo direct entry form is N2000 and is also processed online. There is an entrance examination which is CBT based on the four subjects which are English language, physics, chemistry and biology. The questions are about 100 under an hour.

Undergraduates Pharmacy

The acceptance fee is N25000. The school fees for year one is N63550. Subsequent years school fees comes down to N47600. This is besides departmental dues, practical manuals etc.

School Accommodation

There is a male hostel. There are more female hostels than male hostels. Bed space is N500 but maintenance fee is N8000. All these are done online. Payment can be online or offline. Illegal bed space go for about N45000.

Off Campus Accommodation

A single room off campus is between N15000-N35000 but depends on close proximity to the campuses. Self contain can be very pricey. N80000 is the straying cost and could be as high as N150000.

Postgraduate Programme

The postgraduate programme is for M.sc or Phd or M.pharm. Entrance qualification is a degree in relevant first degree in pharmacy with nothing less than a second class honours degree in the lower division with a cumulative grade point average (C.G P.A) of 2.75 on a five point scale or 2.2 on a four point scale. For PhD, dissertation and course work average which should not be less than 60% (B). That is in addition require proof of five credits in English language, physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology in not more than two sittings at O'level. Others are National Youth Service Corps (N.Y.S.C) discharge letter or exemption certificate, transcript and letter of reference. Candidates applying for PhD in addition to the above must submit thesis/dissertation proposal.

The form is N15000 which is processed online. However, all application forms with relevant details must be submitted to the secretary of postgraduate school.
Screening exercise is divided into written and oral interview. The written is essay type questions. It could be six broad questions to answer five or all. The examination is not objective or current affairs. It is theory and requires extensive writing. The oral interview is especially for PhD candidates. It focuses on your research proposal that you submitted during application. The questions will be like;
1. How come about the topic?
2. How do you plan to execute the topic?
3. Etc.
Successful candidates are to proceed to pay N30000 as acceptance fee. School fees for Freshers is about N250000-N300000. Not information yet on accommodation for school hostels. Will update all that when I have source for it.
