Books Given To Corp Members In NYSC Orientation Camp By NYSC
The national youth service corps (NYSC) programme is a once in a lifetime duty. You don't repeat it. Every participant is new. Everybody is an otondo or white fowl. Even your fellow corp members (CM) does not know right from left. The people that know are the camp officials. However, they may be too busy or not accessible when needed.

Bye-Laws
The Bye-Laws is a small book containing all the laws governing the NYSC programme. It is expected that every CM read and understand each of the laws while in camp to avoid breaking any of the NYSC laws.
NYSC Act
The act is the provision made by the law of the federation of Nigeria for the establishment of the programme. The book contains the details of each law guiding the CM, ex-CM, and staff of the programme. It is broken into sections. It covers both the duty of the public and private sector to the programme. I have not even read mine. Lol
NYSC Online Portal
This small book is a small guide to the use of NYSC portal. It explains what each link in the dashboard means to each. CM and what to do when the portal is not working accordingly. It goes on to explain what can be done online without leaving your house. From their official app use to their social media and every other online Link is covered. Please make sure you read this very well.
NYSC State Orientation Guide
This is perhaps one of the most important of them all. This is a written book by the NYSC State coordinator and it's board for each CM. It contains the state coordinator good wish message to all CM deployed to that state. At the beginning is the various anthems and pledge with the list of the executives which includes the president, DG, state governor and state coordinator. That is not all. It contains a list of all staff of the state NYSC office and their position.
A look further will take you into the history and other demographics of the state you are posted to. From here, they will look at the general overview of the programme which is copied from the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws.
At a place, they explain what is required of each CM throughout the orientation camp but the information is not detailed enough to be of any value.
But the major information in this book is the 21 days timetable for activities which they never keep to anyway.
A part of the book I like very much is the part that contains all the contact details of each camp official. You can always reach them with it.
Security Awareness And Education
A book written by Watching Security Consultancy Services for CM and NYSC staff contains valuable practical guide on security matters. With focus on the volatile security situations of the country, it provides tips to avoid trouble especially in a host community. The message of the DG was clear on the matter. No matter how much the security personnel work, personal security consciousness cannot be overemphasized.
The tips and other mitigation measures spelt out in the handbook are well thought out and articulated in very simple language.
With more CM data at their disposal, they produce a book containing all the names and images of CM in camp. The book also talk about some information about the state and the orientation camp. How it would solve the problem and its benefits to CM is discussed. A list of curricular for the SAED programme is made available to enable CM make their own choice.
SAED skills Provider Directory contains all the names and list of partners for the state. If you are interested in the SAED programme, look at the skill you want to learn and the partner that can offer such service closest to you. Inside this book is a form called 'letter of introduction.' Interested CM who wish to complete their SAED programme after camp should fill the form with their name and state code. The form is to be submitted to the place of primary assignment (PPA) and a duplicate copy to local inspector who will forward it to state coordinator.
SAED Participant Workbook is a book all CM where given on the last day of the camp SAED training programme. It is filled by the CM. However, there is an official document meant to be filled by NYSC officials to access the CM at the end of the programme.
