Mixagrip is another cough product from orange drugs ltd, Nigeria but manufactured by PT dankos Farma, Indonesia. It is different from procold and mixadin from the same company by the ingredients.

Composition Of Mixagrip
Each caplet contains:
Paracetamol 500 mg
Pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg
Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg
Pharmacology
Acts as analgesic-antipyretic, antihistamine and nasal decongestant.

Indications Of Mixagrip
For symptomatic relief of influenza such as sneezing, nasal obstruction, fever and headache.
Warnings
- It should not be given to the patient who has shown sensitivity with other sympathomimetic agents (e.g. ephedrine, propanolamine and phenylephrine), and patient who treated with antidepressant drugs which type monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAO).
- Recommended dosage should not be exceeded
- it should be used with caution in patients with hypertension or those who have potential hypertension or stroke, such as overweight patients or elderly patients.
- Patients should immediately contact a physician or hospital if the symptoms of influenza are not reduced within 3 days of treatment.
- Discontinue the treatment if sleep disturbances, tachycardia and headache occur.
Contraindications
- Patients with cardiovascular disturbance, diabetes mellitus, liver disorder
- Patients who have hypersensitive with this drug
Warnings And Precautions
- Cautions should be made for patients with liver and renal insufficiency, glaucoma, prostate enlargement, hyperthyroidism and urine retention.
- The use for children under 2 years, in pregnancy and lactation is not recommended except under physician's instruction.
- Avoid driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery while taking this drug.
- Caution should be made for used with central nervous system depressant drugs
- The use in patients who consume alcohol can increase the risk of liver function damage.

Side Effects Of Mixagrip
- Drowsiness, gastro-intestinal disturbance, psychomotor disturbance, tachycardia, arrhythmia, dry mouth, palpitations, urine retention.
- High dose and prolonged use can cause liver damage
- Insomnia, irritability, excitation, tremor, arrhythmia ventricle and palpitation
Drug Interactions
The concomitant use with antidepressant type MAO-inhibitor can cause hypertension crisis.
Dosage Of Mixagrip
Adult: 1 caplet, 3-4 times daily
Children 6-12 years: ½ caplet, 3 times daily
