Whitfield's Ointment Composition, Use, Dosage
Whitfield's ointment is an effective antifungal topical preparation containing a mixture of benzoic acid and salicylic acid in the ratio of 2:1 in a suitable base. It is made in Nigeria by DrugField pharmaceuticals LTD, lynson chemical avenue, km 38, Lagos Abeokuta expressway, sango-ota, Ogun State.

Composition Of Whitfield's Ointment
1 g of the ointment contains:
Benzoic acid 0.06 g
Salicylic acid 0.03 g

Indications
DrugField whitfield's ointment is effective in the treatment of fungal infections of the skin due to dermatophytes e.g trichophyton species, moulds and other fungi such as tinea capitis (ring worm), tinea pedis, tinea versicolor, tinea pedis (athlete's foot).
Contraindications
Proven intolerance to any of the individual constituents.
Precaution
If local irritation or allergic reaction occurs, the treatment should be discontinued.

Dosage And Administration Of Whitfield
Apply thinly to the affected parts and Robin two to three times daily. Duration of treatment could be up to 2 to 4 weeks depending on the extent and the site of the disease.
