Cal D3 Tablet Use In Pregnancy
Cal D3 |
Cal D3 is a supplement containing 500 mg calcium and 250 iu vitamin D3. Calcium carbonate is commonly used medicinally as a calcium supplement or as an antacid but excessive consumption can be hazardous. Vitamin D is a group of fat soluble circle steroids responsible for enhancing intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate. In humans the most important compounds in this group are vitamin D3 (also known as cholecalciferol) and vitamin D3 (ergocalciferol).

Cal D3 Use In Pregnancy
Routine supplementation during pregnancy is not recommended. This could be due to the world health organisation (WHO) finding on the impact of calcium and vitamin D3 supplementation in pregnancy.
According to WHO, supplementation with vitamin D during pregnancy increased maternal circulating vitamin D concentrations, but the clinical relevance of this effect remains unclear. Vitamin D given alone reduced the risk of preterm birth and of having a low birth weight infant. Vitamin D in combination with calcium halved the risk of pre-eclampsia, but increased the risk of preterm birth.

So before you add Cal D3 tablets to your routine drugs, ask your pharmacist or medical doctor. This is because some documents recommend calcium from pregnant women. But the WHO never is in support of that.
