The World Health Organization (WHO) defined herbal medicine as: ‘any part of a plant in which one or more of its parts can be used for therapeutic purposes or as precursors for the synthesis of useful drugs. Herbal medicines include herbs, herbal materials, herbal preparations and finished herbal products that contain parts of plants or other plant materials as active ingredients.
Medicinal herbal bitters on the other hand contain blended ingredients in a water or alcohol base used for the treatment of illnesses. Bitters contain complex carbohydrates, secondary metabolites, vitamins and minerals that have antioxidant, antiviral and other pharmacological properties. They are used to aid digestion and metabolism, relieve occasional heartburn, calm upset stomach and nausea, increase absorption of fat soluble vitamins, help maintain healthy blood sugar levels, ease constipation and regulate bowel movements, help mop up free radicals and stimulate immune function among others
Yoyo Bitters Versus Ruzu Bitters
The marketer did not provide scientific documents on the effect of their products on all the condition that claim they can treat. Fortunately, so many independent researchers are all out to verify some of these claims.
For example, different research have shown that yoyo bitters reduce blood sugar level. However, that cannot be said of ruzu bitters as there was significant increase in blood glucose level by another researcher. This could be attributed to glycogenolysis process where glycogen is broken down to glucose molecules or building up of glucose from non-carbohydrates substrate like pyruvate through gluconeogenesis.

For treatment of infection, a couple of studies prove ruzu bitters were able to inhibit the growth of Neisseria gonorrhoeae compared with Ciprofloxacin (standard drug). This cannot be said of yoyo bitters. The only research was on the constituent of yoyo bitters which showed that it contain some compound like flavonoids and tannins that are anti-infective. However, testimonials abound of people who claim to have used this to treat some sexually transmitted infection.
The bottom line is that both products contain different herbs with similar claims. There is no way to compare both except on a particular disease. If you want to treat a particular disease, it is recommended you do a little research on the disease and look for literature review on each of the bitters as it relates with that condition. The one with better evidence should be used. If they work, yes for some of their claims but I can't independently verify all the claims.
