How To Write Request Letter For Unpaid NYSC Allowance (Template)

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a programme set up by the Nigerian government to involve Nigerian graduates in nation building and the development of the country. It consists of four cardinal programme which are;

1. NYSC orientation camp which begins the programme and last for three weeks

NYSC unpaid allowance

2. Place of primary assignment (PPA) that require a corp member to be posted to a place where he or she will serve for about ten months

3. Community development service (CDS) whereby the corp member contribute to the development of the community in group or using individual project

4. Passing out parade and winding up in which the corp member is given NYSC certificate

The programme spans across a twelve months period. Every corp member is entitled to three main allowances. There are also other types of allowance which is paid to corps members who deserve it such as medical allowance for illness.

The first is bicycle allowance which is money given to all corp members for coming to camp. It is described as a transport fair for coming to camp. The second allowance is the transport allowance which is the allowance given to all corp members to get to their PPA. The last is the monthly allowance paid at the end of every month to the last which includes the month at camp.

To get a bicycle allowance which is paid in cash at the NYSC orientation camp, what is needed is your NYSC state code tag and your school identity card. The transport allowance also paid at the end of NYSC orientation camp only requires you to present your state code tag. First monthly allowance is paid to all corp members without anything to be done. Subsequent monthly allowance requires monthly clearance done at the beginning of the month to get paid at the end of the month. This involves getting a clearance letter from your PPA and submitting it to the local inspector (LI) at NYSC local government secretariat. The last step is to thumbprint which is called biometric clearance. After that, your dashboard in the NYSC portal should change from absent to present. This happens in most cases in the evening of the day you cleared. You should expect your allowance at the end of the month.

If for any reason you or a group of persons did not get paid for any of the allowance, you should as a matter of urgency notify NYSC management through writing. To get a quick response from NYSC and want urgent attention to your application, there are certain things you need to note.

Application Letter For Unpaid Allowance

You are to write an application letter to the NYSC director-general through your LI. The letter must be formal and handwritten. Attached is the evidence you have not been paid. For bicycle and transport allowance in camp, you don't need to attach any evidence. NYSC will only go through their record to see if you have been paid.

As for monthly allowance, you will need to attach a photograph of the screen of your NYSC dashboard showing your monthly clearance as present. Go to your bank and get your statement of account for the period. You can get an online print from your bank app. If for any reason the dashboard is not showing present, attach evidence for the reason such as letter of relocation or medical report showing evidence of sickness.

I want to bring to your kind notice that I have not received my Federal Government allowance till now. I’m serving in Delta State with State Code: DT/20A/3309. It has happened to me for the first time. I have complained to my Local Government Inspector (LGI), but till now, my allowance has not been credited into my bank account. The total amount needs to be credited ₦33,000 for the month of March, 2021.
