Shaving After Bath Prevent Bumps
I never knew what shaving of beard means or when and how to do it. I never knew about this so called precautions to avoid bumps such as shaving before or after bath. When I was young, I wished to have facial beards. I like the ideal of shaving every morning like other men I see around. But lucky me, it never came. Even the little that came is disturbing.
Shaving should be an act that must be mastered. Shaving wrongly has its problems that may not be good. One very mistake I see many men making is waiting to bath after shave. Sounds logical right? Yeah! When you consider the bathing removes hairs that fall on the body.

How Bumps Form
But did you know that shaving before a bath can cause bumps? You heard it right. It can lead to bumps. And you know how difficult it is to treat bumps and how it makes men uncomfortable. So, here is the thing. The face or any other part of the body has microbes, debris and oils that make it sticky to razors (I mean the razors in shaving sticks). Also, the skin is dry, coarse and the pores are closed. This makes it difficult to push the blade through. The friction is high due to all these factors. The closed pores prevents the blade from getting to the root of the hairs as the pores block the blade. The end result is that you end up using more pressure to glide through. It may lead to minor cuts and bumps.

Bumps form as a result of hair follicles growing back into the skin. When the skin covers, bumps for making it difficult for the hair follicle to grow out.
Here is how it happens. The hair at this level is lying in one direction. It makes it difficult for the razor to cut through as the razor may glide past it. All these cause the blade to cut just the surface. So what is the solution?
How Bathing Solve Bumps
Bath before shaving your hair. Bath especially with warm water and soap. Warm water is also a good solution. The water and soap makes the hair soft and erect. It removes debris that may stand the way of the blade as well as open up the pores on the skin. When the pores are open, the blade can get to the root of the hair.
Type Of Blade
The type of blade use also matters. Shape blades work well. One blade should not be used more than four times because each use reduces the sharpness. And shaving sticks with one or two blades work better. For two blades shaving sticks, the first blades bend the hair to shape and the second cuts through it. Using a shaving stick with many blades causes friction that can lead to bumps.
Best Time After Bath
The next question is how long after bath? Should it be immediately or after some time? The answer is simple. It all depends on the blade. Some blades are water resistant. Those ones can be used almost immediately after bath. They can even be used during bath. But the area to be shaved should be wet for at least three minutes before shaving.
But blades that are not water resistant cannot be used during bath. And it is good to dry the area to shave naturally before shaving. This helps to save the blades from moisture so that it can be used again.

The use of oils and creams brings another question. Are they advisable? Yes. They make shaving perfect. They reduce the friction and make the blade guide through easily. And remember, friction is the major cause of bumps.
However, shaving with electric shavers is a different thing entirely. Those machines were designed to work with hard hair. It is not advisable to shave before bathing. Because shaving after baths with an electric shaver reduces the efficiency of the machine.
What is the best way to shave? Simple short strokes are ok. And shave in the direction that the hair grows naturally.
